England report
The young English king, after finally having a glimpse of the future, rached up inflation and got a favor from France to DoW him in order to get some inflation. Overall, inflation was pushed up to slightly under 7% before the -10 inflation event ... I will know better next time I play England.
Right then, while fighting 4 rebellions, Denmark DoWed England. Not a surprise, I should say, thanks to some good intelligence and a general expectation that the only direction for Denmark to expand was to come from NA. England built a fleet, to measure Denmarks. Pre-session look on Denmark showed 51 ships, thus England built as many. The bloody Dannish came with 96!
Still, with no naval leader, our navy prevailed. Then again, and again. Sadly, Denmark continued building, showing a bulldog determination! Finally, he prevailed and before our army could enter Anglia, a mere day or so, disembarked there. Our arriving army could not match his leader and 33k of brave troops got annihilated! Bad development!
As the war raged, Denmark was winning battles, although not quite successful seiging. Stupid luck had my NA army beaing beaten by 1/3 smaller Danish army, but finally I prevailed there. Should have burnt his TP -- he burnt one of mine ...
There was a long diplomatic exchange. Denmark was originally set on getting me vassalized, something I vehemently denied, although truth be told he was winning and in 20 years, had the war gone as bad as it did for us, he could have gotten, maybe, his ways.
In the meantime, Scotland and Eire (Scotland was forgotten that it had rebels, while Eire was a seige bug -- seiged for 2 years, not a single development) revolted! Bugger! Scotland even prevented me from creating armies in the north. Another bugger.
Finally, the war was settled with Denmark in exchange for Yorkshire and Connecticut (an empty province in NA at that point). Denmark did show some mercy and good diplomacy.
France was a darling -- he dealt with some rebels in Brittany.
The sad part was that the war did not allow me to take the most advantage from my explorers, as those have arrived in port and were forgotten in the myriad of popups. Also, counting on help from Austria, I offered to exchange my maps ... the help never came ... Austrian buggers!
From then on it was fairly straightforward. After some setbacks, Scotland was annexed, alongside its 13k army. Nice. Then the truce with Eire expired, Eire was dowed and annexed. Bad BB score though ... bugger.
In NA, colonization was going as planned. Africa though was another story -- 79% colonization chance, my foot! Three colonists failed! Somehow I don't believe those percentages!
At the end of session, Denmark started a war against Sweden. England was tempted to join, but feared Denmark's retaliation. So a more diplomatic approach was chosen -- buying out Yorkshire.
Minting some inflation (hopefully a deflation event will hit one of these days) to 4%, we got some money to pay off France and Denmark in next session. Slowly we are growing a bit more secure in our future .... now I have to turn help my gf, or I will be divorced even before I get married ....
