Hey, Ijust finished my last campaign and wanted to start a new game. BUT the game just kept me in the loading screen for more than 10 minutes, doing NOTHING. In the upper right corner stands "join server 0%".

This started happening to me as well this evening.
It loaded up correctly once after reinstalling, verifying and deleting all files in the Documents/Imperator folder. After exiting after starting a new game neither load game or new game works. Stuck at joining server: 0%.
I'm noticing one thing, and that is that the game sound stops for a 1/3rd of a second when it gets stuck initially.
Edit: This also happened at the release of 1.3, but it went away afaik (didn't play much over the holiydays).

Just want to echo this happened to me this morning as well. I can load games with no problem, but when I attempt to start a new game it locks up at join server.
Can't think of any differences in terms of mods, downloads, patches, system changes, etc....was able to start a new game last night. /shrug.

no idea if it's any help, but I see in the exception log that it gets a unhandled divide by zero error at the same memory address every time.

You could try deleting the whole Documents/paradox/Imperator/ folder, except any valued save games of course.
And whatever antivirus app you use, add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list. It could be an AV app has updated overnight and is now objecting to imperator.exe when the older version did not.

Decided to fire up the game before I head out today, and it works for now. I haven't touched anything since my last try when it froze/crashed yesterday, not even powered the pc off and on again
. I've done the things you mentioned, but it did not work after reinstalling/clearing the documents. If this issue pops up again, what are the kind of files/log stuff you'd want to check it out?
Not sure, really - we don't know why it happened again just now, nor why it then went away in your case at least.

Yes, there was two (or more, not really sure) definition updates for Windows Defender that was installed on the 28th on my computer. I followed the other steps, adding Imperator to every kind of exclusion list I could manage, including the ransomware one (which isn't enabled in the first place on my computer). Guessing there might be something there that is effecting it, but that's outside my area of expertise. Has worked fine for me for the last two days now, but I can't speak for the rest of the thread.
I'm able to start new games again. Not really sure what caused it, because I'm not aware of any software changes or updates that were made by myself or something automatically.
