I would just like them removed off the map i have accidentally hired them more than once in the middle of a war when i had no actual need of them.

Yeah i get the idea of mercs camps on the map but it is implented rather poorly and i can't even enjoy the beautiful temple in Rome because the Mercs standing in the way. They should ask how many people even like them on the map and i guess there will be few who like how it is implented. CK 2 or EUIV method is fine for me.

What happend to the promises of population cap by terrain, technologies, buildings and inventions? and the pop growth change?

There is a cap but you can as historically happen expand over it. If you reach the cap your pops will starve. However with granaries, wheat imports etc. you can expand to a certain lvl. At a certain point your only limit is the number of slave pops/food ressources you field and the number of traderoutes for imports you can have.

Start the game with the launch option -benchmark=2 . In Steam you can set launch options by right-clicking the game in the library-list, select Properties, and then click "Set Launch options...".

Thanks for the answer. I finally could run it. But after running the game for a couple of minutes while a long list of changing numbers appeared on the screen, the game shut down by itself and nothign else. Where can I find the extracted data and how should I use it?

I like them on the map. It gives me a fast idea about how many mercs are available in a given region. Even if I don't want to hire them myself it gives me an idea about what the AI can do.

The output from the benchmark can be found in debug.log file, usually located in USER\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Imperator\logs . The debug.log and error.log files are great to attach when reporting issues, though all log files can help.
