Why would you make pirates spawning on the map out of nothingness? I thought this kind of stuff was thought horrible years ago. Why are you going backwards? Makes no sense.

so I'm going to have to reload save and break alliance because my ally's ally got attacked

so I'm playing boi I have allied a neighbor to the north far away from anyone I would be afraid of fighting but they have allied the Etruscans who have lost a war to Rome already and are kind of small so after the roman truce is over they attack again but this time my ally becomes the war leader does this mean that I would have to fight Rome??????????!!!
I believe it works like this:

If war is declared on your ally, then you would be automatically called to arms.
If your ally is called to arms by one of their allies, and your ally becomes the war leader, you are not automatically called to arms.

Because of one small feature which is super easily moddable... yes... overreacting much.
While I agree that he may be overreacting. It is indeed not super easy moddable. At least from what we know. Have you ever seen more ships created with mods in let's say EUIV? Have you seen CKII ships being active in combat which many have wanted with a mod? The answer is no. And from what we know so far, Imperator:Rome won't be any different.

I hope that's how it works because I don't want to be pulled into random wars because of an AI's poor ally choice

Naval mechanics look very disappointing, and I hope you don't include them in the game. Not only will there be just one type of ship, it will also be used as a glorified transport in an era where naval battles were of extreme importance in the Mediterranean. Ever heard of Cypriot Salamis, Actium, Amorgos; or maybe the Punic Wars that transformed Rome into a great naval power in its own right? Also what's all this about pirates spawning out of nowhere? Are you aware that Pompey defeated the Cilician pirates by -wait for it- going to Cilicia, where they came from?

Are you purposefully making this bare-bones, non-sense naval system so that you can later expand it with DLC?

  • Parnia: One of a number of Dahae tribal kingdoms in the region between the Caspian Sea and Bactria. Would eventually conquer Parthia and found the Parthian Empire, ruled by the Arsacid dynasty. Like all of the Dahae Tribes, if Parnia exapnds it can form a Dahae federation, greatly strengthening its ranks and potentially reading itself for an invasion of Iran. Starts independent and unaligned.

2 spelling mistakes, should of course be (Expands) and (preparing) Reading/readying is not a word (in this context)

Great DD again, I'm worried about the naval combat but on the other hand it probably wasn't that exciting in reality either so... Okay.

I had a question relating to the last weeks livestream, the streamers showed the Greek Councillors/ministers and they had Greek titles (ArchStrategos) and things like that. Now I can sort of understand what a ArchStrategos would be /High General, War Minister or something, but will those awesome and confusing titles, have a description when you hover over them??

LoL the CB that never happens.

Except it can, because there are other kinds of CTAs that you can choose to dishonor. Offensive CTAs being the most obvious example, but I'm guessing that when the defensive warleader changes it isn't an auto-CTA either. So there are plenty of cases where the CB could apply.

What all this adds up to is that you'll want to really think twice about allying stronger powers to have them conquer your enemies for you. If you dishonor their offensive CTA they get a CB on you and if you call them into your war they'll become warleader. I think it sounds good. It also means that if you're the local power and you ally weaker powers it will actually be worth it to help them in wars since you'll be warleader. I like that very much. EU4 was meant to bring something like this in in 1.18 but it didn't eventuate. I'm very pleased to see it here.

Really disappointed in the naval combat.

One combat unit? Really? Not to mention it’s absolutely ahistorical. The primary warfighting ship of the era as identified by Polybius was the Quinquireme, not the Trireme. This game isn’t set in the Peloponnesian war.

But in an era where the Ptolemies in Egypt were building vast, experimental 7 and even 8 bank monstrosities...this is incredibly reductive and lame.

Why is this game simplifying everything? It’s almost a step back from EUIV. I had such high hopes initially...
