Don't you think using the term "city" to name small regions in the provinces will be problematic when it comes to simulate the nomadic (or semi-nomadic) life-style of the steppe people (e.g., Scythians or Xiongnu)?
Will there be adaptations of this organization for these different kinds of governments/social structures?

There's no reason to do something that drastic: just have the localization call it something else than City if you're a Nomad. Though what it could be called is another issue.

All of Paradox's previous games (of a generation) had a comparable pixel resoultion on the map files - EU4 and Hoi4 are 5632x2048, CK2 is 3072x2048. With the base unit being a city now, it looks like the phyiscal dimensions of the maps are much larger. Could you say what the pixel dimensions of the map are?

How much of the Steppes will be playable in I:R? The PDXCON images didnt have Parthia or the Dahae at all in the map, but i assume these fellas are safe; but what aboout the rest?

I know the map is a WIP, just curious since that part of the map wasnt mentioned at all. And also curious regarding modern day Russia, Belarus and the Baltics; will it be an interactable part of the map?

Overall great work, i very much like what i see :)

The map is absolutely stunning. I'm having a bit of a problem distinguishing impassable terrain borders and provincial borders though. Not a biggy in my mind but could lead to mistakes.

Overall extremely impressive though. The map is absolutely stunning and the way the politcal map and geographical maps combine is a great way to show off all these shiny new graphics.

Still curious how running an empire of hundreds of cities is going to work if managing pops and buildings is done on the city level. To be honest I fully expected that would be done on the province level. Hopefully you guys have done some thinking in preventing a micromanagement hell.

23 cities, so I guess 2 provinces and as such 2 governors. I guess there will be a greater number of characters in the game vs EU:R. Can't wait to see character interaction.

Also Next Week? :)

Can you take individual cities in a peace deal or you have to take the province whole?
I was wondering the same thing: do "Cities" in I:R work like EU4's provinces and CK2's counties and they can be gained and lost individually or are they tied to the larger region they belong to like in Victoria 2? I hope it's the EU4/CK2 system honestly, the Victoria 2 system always felt so restrictive (why the hell do I have to take half of Switzerland when I just want a tiny province!?).

I'm gonna go and take an educated design guess and say that there will be a bit of CK2 Vassals/Stellaris Sectors style delegation of province management in this game :)

If not, this might get overwhelming and blandly micromanagy fast.

I love the direction the map is going. Looks like Greek City States are gonna be loads of fun to play! :D

The ability to create your own sectors would be pretty important with so many cities. Alternative I guess you could probably set provinces to autodevelop or something. Managing hundreds of cities and dozens of provinces is gonna be pretty hard without some way to let the AI take over some of your work

I felt the smell of dlc here.

I've read an interview with Johan where he was very firmly in his oposition of multiple start dates, also through DLC. It's not entirely closed off but I wouldn't expect them very soon.

That being said in my mind this map and these gameplay mechanics would easily work well with a game spanning from 400 BC to 500 AD as well as the age they've picked so far. If this game is going into the same DLC and support trajectory as EU and CK then I feel that sooner or later we will be able to add other ages to the game. It's just too good an opportunity to miss if you ask me.

Pretty much. Multiple start dates is a failed experiment (I was even surprised to see two for HoI4). I wouldn't be surprised if the next Paradox titles over the coming years made single start dates in 1836 the standard.
