Basing the vision on a players description of the game, Paradox takes listening to players to a new level! Well done

On that basis I would suggest a bonus pay for the development team on Imperator Rome, to ensure the team is fully on the task and delivers on time

There is a hint there between fall, and Caesar
if my answer is not satisfying enough...

=)
The correct answer would be: everything
But we all have to wait and see what Paradox HQ are up to...

Maybe for a mod, but that would definitely be a cheap solution vanilla, for a game from a renowned developer. So what if "the consuls X&Y" die mid-term: both of them die? One can't die without the other?

I'll agree that it's less than ideal. However, if they haven't managed to get the two ruler government set up properly, is it better than just having the one consul?

What was the historical situation if one of the consuls died? Did the Senate select a new consul for the rest of the term? Did they elect a new pair entirely? Did the survivor serve out the term on their own?

If a new pair was elected, then you just select a new X&Y from the senators, removing the dead guy as normal for a senatorial death.
If a replacement consul is elected then some shenanigans needs to be done to make it now the consuls "X&Z".

True. But I agree with @Trajan72 in that the name conventions seem sadly mixed for countries (and provinces?): sometimes the proper (?) tribal ending, say Cornovii, Parisi, Eburaces, and sometimes the more improper (?) 'civilised' -a at the end, such as in Scandinavia: Herulia, Rugia, Sueonia, Sarmatia. I'd prefer all tribes to be named as tribes.

But surely just an oversight at Paradox's end and easily fixed in the localisation files during development.

That's exactly what I meant. Thank you @ Acronblad that you understood me, what I wanted to say. :)
Otherwise may one pardon my poor choice of words for me poor sinner, and I pledge my better. Amen!

If Paradox cannot manage to set up a dual rulership properly, then I'd be surprised. And I'd be even more surprised if they wouldn't, since the time period covers (and can be assumed to focus on) Rome as a republic and that republic had two consuls for the full four centuries of gameplay. Furthermore, Sparta had two kings, so two examples in the game of nations that it can be assumed that at least some players would like to play.

But if worse comes to worse, then I'd blush on behalf of Paradox and be content with just one 'normal' ruler.

Plese dont forget the Senate! He must interfere and direct the ruler, he must create difficulties, he must be alive! I loved the Senate in Eu:Rome1 and Rome:Total War only.

Precise my point!
In my view the dual consular-ship gave the Republic extra strength in crisis!
Strength is perhaps a misnomer, FLEXIBILITY would be a better word.
I think any other state/kingdom/republic had rebelled with that kind of enormous losses.

We better start a kickstarter regarding two consuls.. right now!...

What I'm asking right now is why Etruria was made as a whole "nation" and not as the only city-states Vulci, Veii, Tarquinii, Vetulonia. It is well known that the Etrurians were more or less a federation of cities and not a nation. Sometimes they were at war with each other. And as far as I remember, Rome had to be taken city by city. I think it would have been more interesting for the game, especially in Italy. Of course I can be wrong too...

Maybe that nation reflects the federation, and at that particular point it's stable enough to consider to be one entity?
That's not to say that a year down the line there might not be a civil war...

Hmm, I do not know. I can not imagine that there were any federations at all, let alone stable enough. Especially not when it came to your own skin. I even think that I have read in my Etruscan book that one or two cities of the Etruscans had allied themselves with Rome. However, I would have to read this again in more detail.

Just took a look at the map Johan posted and it looks like there are provinces there! Could it indicate some form of minor colonization feature?

There was a Bronze age culture developing there called the Nuragic civilisation with many tribes that clashed with Carthage over control before Carthage dominated the coasts of the island. The Romans conquered it from Carthage during the Mercenary war, but could not control what became known as Barbaria "Land of the Barbarians".

The Romans didnt bother trying to control it due to the notoriously rebellious and unreliable population. Corsican and Sardinian slaves were the cheapest on the market for centuries as they would just slit the throat of whoever purchased them and/or make a run for it at the first possibility.

I agree with you. It would be better and cooler (and make for a more unique gameplay as Etruscans) if each Etruscan city (EU4 equivalent of province) was its own nation and culture, even if such nations are bound together in a or more federations.

No. You will play as state but dynasties/families do exist in your realm.
