That migration mechanic NEED TO GO. It's beyond silly, it's idotic. A country should only be able to migrate as a whole. Having half your country in Denmark and the other half in the Balkans... I lack words. It's stupid beyond measure.
I think it should be more like a snake game where you can pickup some stuff on the way but move more as a coherent mass.

The rule you propose implies no countries above 1 city can migrate except to adjacent cities.
Just do so you either move the entire country or move locally or something. Seeing half the country in Scandinavia and the other half in the Balkans is beyond silly. And extremely gamey.

The rule you propose implies no countries above 1 city can migrate except to adjacent cities.
No, if they migrate as a whole they can go wherever they want. But as soon as one of the migration armies settles down, the others have to settle down adjacent to it. Only makes sense.

Just add the rule: a migration army must settle down in a city adjacent to an owned city. When there are no owned cities, the migration army may settle down at will.

This is exactly the rule that I formulated in my head after watching Saxony's initial bordergore, I think it's enough to prevent overly silly and ugly outcomes.

I dislike such hard rules. Why not something like, wenn provinces arent connected to your captial trough controlled provinces or over sea, they get an Autnomy Floor. 25% per tribal uncontrolled province, which doesn't grt refreshed.
Let people settle like they want, but let them gain nothing from it.
Maybe,even give a higher cost of migrating for provinces with higher autonomy score.

I think autonomy is in EU4, in Imperator we have province loyalty. Would make sense for disconnected provinces to become disloyal and eventually revolt though.

So how come @Johan you speak of Saxony as doing well, when your tech level is 0 across the board, while the competition is way ahead? Won't that mean you can't do war successfully?

I think it's silly that cities grow pops, not that pops grow pops. For example, having 100 cities with 1 pop each will vastly outpace growth while having 10 cities with 10 pops each.

It works this way in Stellaris 2.2 (planets grow pops, not pops grow pops) and it's wonky as hell.

It works this way in Stellaris 2.2 (planets grow pops, not pops grow pops) and it's wonky as hell.

I recall that pop growth speed is determined by amount of food surplus and the granary building, suggesting that a well-tendered city will grow way faster than some backwater. As long as it's sustained by food import, that is.

Rome had 4 in tech level last we saw. Saxony has 0.

Saxony has used a very edgy and peculiar tactic of mass migration and generally only focused on landgrabbing. Also it started as an entirely uncivilized minor. Not exactly comparable to Rome that started as an already powerful civilized nation.

Compare to Epirus (And afaik a few other nations seen on stream) that had like tech level 6 across the board.

5 well governed planets can outperform 20 badly/AI managed ones. Simultaneous growth isn't everything.
