There once was a man named Johan,
his nations were always well ran,
he saw poor Boi,
and said MUST DESTROY!,
and poor Boi needed a new game-plan.

The Saxonian Migrating Pox strategy still looks both terrible and gamey, especially early in the dev clash.

The team should probably take a page out of Stellaris' book regarding expansion and penalize too many unconnected territories.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Rome won't finish this campaign in the top 5 :)

In my experience it's never a good idea to show too much dominance early on, that leads to coalitions forming!

And Rome has no "natural" allies - the Gauls and barbarians fear it, the Carthagians hate it now, Egypt sees it as a rival, and Macedon ... well... Macedon might be a natural client state now if the Romans promise it aid in retaking Greece, but it will certainly not be a willing long-term ally...

More than a little annoyed that Phrygia made such a comeback. Not being able to count on allies to help against them isn't good either, however right at the end of the session Phrygia did declare war on the Seleucid Empire.

So there might be an opportunity there to hit them whilst they are busy.

Get game overed again

My prediction once again holds true, oh how the Gods like to make mortal men their play thing.

I have such accurate prophetic visions, but alas all they portray is my own demise.

Cursed to forever see my own end again and again and again.

You should've taken on them when they imploded. Big mistake. Now its gonna be a lot harder. They seem to be winning the war against seleucids so far. And they have very good stats. I dont know why other diadochi didnt just ally to quickly and swiflty take them out. Macedon is out now. Better hope its not too late now and it doesnt get too out of control.

Armenia gave Seleucids sweet hell. A spartan defense right there, winning battle after battle. But they could only hold so much against such big numbers. But allowed him to come out of it quite well, just losing one province :D

They kind of do already. When you border an uncolonised province barbarians spawn. Clearly not enough barbarians though.

I did fight them last week, took a province off them, so started this session with a five year truce. By the time I was ready to fight them again, they had crushed Macedon. Also at some point I lost my alliance with Seleucid and they hate me now, not sure what happened there or when.

The problem now, isn’t really Phrygia itself, but rather it’s vassals, as the stats don’t show there is a good 50 to 100 thousand more troops from them :(

Phrygia is clearly this weeks big Winner and rises from the Ashes...my imaginary crystal ball tells me that perhaps history will repeat itself and we will see a coalition against the "one-eyed one" with Egypy, Selecuid, Macedon and perhaps even adding a few new ones like Getia into the mix?

You guys are splitting British culture in to more groups right? Maybe Gaulic culture too? Mass expanding giant culture groups seems super strong right now...

Roman culture also seems a bit... large.

Uufff, Jake didnt show that during the stream. You cant see they are all vassals by looking at the map. You're gonna have to some how team up as many as you can to bring them down. Lets hope they dont win the war against the seleucids as well

The couple provinces they have left you mean? They are not much of a help. I wonder if Egypt can ally Seleucids. They should join Egyp, Macedon, Bactria, Armenia, and Seleucids if possible.

Bactria is pleased to have both survived the war with the Seleucids and to have weathered the civil war.

After today's devclash I'm quite satisfied how the civilized world looks quite historically plausible, and that the AI performs well. On the other hand the tribal areas looks like they need more anti-blobbing mechanisms. Tribal splits when growing too large or something like that seems necessary. Gavelkind on ruler death?

I have been investing since day 1 to Romanize the other latin cultures in italy. At gamestart, it really is just the Latium province itself that is fully Roman :)
