Imperator DD: Important balance changes and missions

Imperator DD: Important balance changes and missions

  • Crusader Kings III Available Now!

The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Advisors may now jockey for positions of influence and adversaries should save their schemes for another day, because on this day Crusader Kings III can be purchased on Steam, the Paradox Store, and other major online retailers.

Being a fan of Paradox Franchise with dozen, hundreds, thousand of hours playing (EU, HoI, CK and more recently IR, my favourite), I'm writing today my very first post ever, here on this Forum. As a matter of fact, I am absolutely delighted by the depth, potential and total immersion provided by IR today. This game has been denounced so badly until recently and finally now it is going to get its rank honored soon I think by both the players community and the critic. I would like to endorse the hopes and fears of several contributors in this Topic.

On one hand, I do support and I am confident in the success of all the efforts made by the developpers to improve the game day after day towards the 2.0 version. On the other hand I fear that some of the new mechanics to be offered (Manpower, Missions,...) will not really go in the direction that I expected.
Indeed, for the sake of the challenge, I have almost always prefered to play a lower medium or minor nations, i.e. Epirus, Avernes and Attrebates, humbly managing to equal more or less the final ranking of Rome and Carthage. (Conversely, in CK3 I always find it much more exciting to play a Count in order to conqueer large parts of Europe).

To conclude, my wish is that the developpers will maintain a viable balance of power between small and major nations sothat it will always be possible to overcome the well known giants if you are doing your warmonger job very well and/or if you are lucky.

I've been doing the one-off playthrough every few months since launch. I am optimistic with the direction that this game is being taken in, and am happy with the progress made thus far.

I have been looking for an excuse to really dive back into Imperator for the last year or so, and I am hoping that the release of 2.0 will be just that.

Great work so far!

I like the new tech tree, I have to say that I personally prefer the EU4/Civilisation style fixed techs rather than the Stellaris style random techs.

Do the decisions / missions that lead to the end-game civil war give some kind of warning / advance notice? I would hate to be happily climbing the mission tree, and be abruptly railroaded into a huge civil war with no notice. Other than that, I'm a big fan of the looming changes, esp the change to the AI war target calculations. :)

The reward tooltip for the mission task described in the DD will say that there will be a civil war in big red letters, you will know that once you click it there will be chaos :)

You have implemented end game crisis embedded in our own nations, clever!

What I really feel is lacking in the game is the ability to do what Ptolmaios did and say "Look I'm not interested in Alexander's empire. It feels like the game is constantly trying to pull us back towards it when the idea of it was increasingly being abandoned.

Thank you. Little by little is shaping into great game from the bare bones that was at start, keep up the good work and don't put it as second priority game. These times lack of proper games and they where the most important times that gave a meaning to proper organized warfare, politics, sciences and many others aspects that we have inherited. Please continue to add more features and options. These epochs need far more respect and in term of gaming and the representation of such great history epochs from the industry of gaming is lacking or has made a second priority, yet there is lot of demand for these epochs from the market, this is very unfortunate IMO.
