Never did I know, that my first playthrough as a proper ruler of the horde would turn out to be one of the most exciting stories I’ve witnessed in all of my CK2 experience.
In the beginning of my campaign, Temujin decided to seek immortality. Although for me they always turned out fruitless, I usually entertain such quests just for the fun of it. To my utter surprise, Genghis Khan turned out to be the first of my characters to actually succeed in becoming immortal! (What are the odds?)
120 years later Continental Europe lies devastated, with Rome, Paris, Constantinople and Kiev turned into pastures for mongol steeds. Middle East forced under tatar yoke, their trade routs subjegated. Cities throughout the known world paying religious tax as is traditional for the Reformed Tengri faith, which is united under the greatest khan, who seems to have truly achieved immortality in more than just history.
Too bad Chancellor Glitterhoof doesn’t seem to be able to lower threat in time, and every war leads to global struggle to defend against mongol riders.
What could have been a better playthrough to earn “Khan of Khans” achievement?
This story goes to show that even after around close to 1000 hours, there are still unpredictable stories to experience and unexpected suprises to uncover in CK2.
