I've always seen AI regents for my characters decide stupid stuff, block mariage proposals and even steal money (before Conclave, I must admit). Now, I've been made regent by my AI king but I don't see how I can affect anything in the kingdom (England btw). Is it just a title now with little more than a place on the Council (which I already had)?
Any advice?

Sadly, as far as I can tell, you get to do exactly none of that. You have a few special protections from your liege, but other than that all those things you see regents doing to screw you over are liege-side events with no regent-side event or decision equivalent.

I was hoping Conclave came with a quest chain where you could usurp your liege's title during a regency but no, still disappointed about that too.

There may or may not be an event chain that does this in vanilla but I've never seen it fire.

It is disappointing and ruined my role-playing as a shadow-king game, it feels like without actually holding the throne, there are few ways to meaningfully influence the kingdom. Maybe I'm just not creative enough though.

There are also several events for harming/being harmed by your liege if it is a minority regency.

Its worth noting you get TWO votes on the council as regent, which allows you to effectively block actions but not much else. What you can do is if your liege conquers new lands and is over their demense limit, switch to malcontent so they can't give them away. Then use the "offer to help liege with titles" intrigue option, effectively forcing them to give you the lands - as a malcontent the only recipient you will ever approve is you.

The simple addition of being able to initiate law change vote at will would be nice.
