Its something they didnt announce in a dev diary, but they have hit spot on. Laws are unlocked by inventions now, so if you want to change tax laws, contracts etc you have to get the inventions. I just wish they added a couple more laws in each section to give more flavour and adpt it better to different situations and make the invention even more worthwhile.

But its a brilliant idea I wasnt expecting and I got so happy when I saw it. Really clever. The new invention system is truly amazing and gamechanging seeing how it ties and interacts with everything in the game so your choices really really matter and shape your country in one way or another allowing different gamestyles and unlocking different mechanics in a way not seen before in IR. Not in many PDX games to be honest.

I was most excited about the levies system. But after all the levy system is restricted to war only. Im loving much more and im much more impressed with the invention system after having tried it becsuse of how deeply it ties and interacts with everything in the game.

Youve really outdone yourselves. Ive been stuck for 40min looking at the goddamn trees trying to chose different paths but each one is so goodd in its own way you really have to decide and settle to focus on one or two different strategies. And seeing how it shapes the rest of your game, the decision Will be extremely hard to take until we get used to and memorize the trees.

Thank you so much team. Keep it up!

The one thing they really did right is the invention system. I promise you I spent 30min trying to weigh up the options at the start of the game just to spent my 8 research at the start of the game. The trade offs and priorities (Imperial Challenge CB? Cohorts? Grand Theatre?) I need to decide on is so challenging and I love it.

Although unrelated to 2.0, the family system really is grinding my gears. Relying on RNG such that the Junii will adopt Junius Brutus and Junius Bubulcus (which they never do) and for the Julio to be a major family is jsit so frustrating. Really hoping for a family/character revamp next patch.

But I love the patch a lot and the new UI. It’s a really good job by the devs and I hope that more people will play this game.
