I'm in a war w/my own vassal?!? WTF?!?

One time as Portugal as leader of an all Iberian alliance (Portugal, Castille, Aragon) I was fighting a war with Algeria, Fez, and Grenada. I won control of all Algeria's provinces and got them to cede Oran and become my vassal. In the peace screen, I had the "as leader of alliance" option selected, and separate peace. It's the damnedest thing, they were my vassal, yet I was still at war with them. I was then able to offer a white peace, but I thought the whole SNAFU was strange. Just thought I'd report this in case y'all could use this info for an upcoming patch. You guys ROCK! You actually listen to us gamers and care about us, unlike some companies(subliminal message:UBISoft) who heretofore shall remain nameless.

I was adulating Paradox(I still say they Rock!). I am just a tad bit more than miffed with Ubi because they published a farted up Pool of Radiance, which has won its place in this infamous Hall of Shite! I am only embittered because PoR has multitudes of problems, the main one being ce ne marche pas!
But don't get me wrong, if EU2 has to go through Ubi, I don't see how they can mess up an already working game!
(subliminal message: Feed the evil Ubi beast, for EU2 is the grand-daddy of all games!)

They actually messed up when translating EU1 : the first retail version always crashed when your mouse was over your country shield in the merchant screen, or something like that. They have had to recall all sold games to replace them, and the working retail version was one and a half month late...

So your prayers for EU2 might be useful!

Ok to answer your original question NobillityT you need either a military alliance to fullfill one of the requirements to make somebody your vassal. Once they are your vassal you need not be in an alliance for them to continue to be your vassal. Secondly a force vassalization doesn't automaticaly align them with you. So it is quite possible to be fighting your vassal.
As for your comments on PoR I cannot believe such a worthless POS was ever considered for publication. Between the long ass battle sequences. The somewhat difficult drop down windows. The fact you have to reequip wands and stuff to use them over and over. Also the fact that the game crashes EVERY 5 MINUTES!!! The locked door bug. Spinning paladin. The admitted stacked dice rolling of the AI. Hmmmmmm I could go on and on, but I don't want to piss of the moderators here so I will stop.
Damn game...grumble...grumble...waste of money.......
