That the combat phase will be more advanced than previously, instead of rolling dices then make some damage favtors or something, also is it just me or doesnt it really matter where you are fighting your battles? i mean theres no real difference between fighting in desert vs plains? dont hang me up on this though

It would be cool if cav had advantages in wide open terrain, etc.

yes and im bloody tired of the dices :s

give the units different stast ( i know its a big project) it just makes more sense than throwing dices after your opponent

i know its kind of rtw'ish with the stats and such, but it would be cool with some changes

Well, you NEED the dice for the uncertainty of it all, otherwise it would all just fall to mathematics ..and that's just not the case. You just have to imagine Dice as luck/random events on the field *shrug*

I hate to say it, but I don't think they will have improved combat one bit. Each unit will have some base modifiers and battles will be rolled out. This provides a realistic combat model in most cases (in terms of incurred losses and winning/losing in a pitched battle), but it does tend to give the smaller army an unrealistic disadvantage.

What I would like to see implemented is an ambush and guerrilla warfare game mechanic. The Roman army might be nearly invincible when situated in a fort and prepared for battle, but they could be ambushed on the road and that would make a huge difference in the ambushers chances.

I see you´ve not read all of the dev diaries. Johan has said that many of HoIs elements have been included. Combat events, Generals, traits for generals, terrrain, weather and more. :D :D :D :D

Agreed, this is rather important. Crassus' fate was sealed by mounted archers when he rashly invaded the arid plains of Parthia with basically a heavy infantry force.

Maybe have an option to "engage in guerilla warfare" in an occupied province using one of your armies.

but then everyone will chose that. Paradox has to find a balance, and I believe that they are doing a good job.

Hardly possible. It would require too much work, make AI understand how it works, balance it etc.

EDIT: Lol. Two similar answers seconds away
