It absolutely was possible in EU 3 as I saw it on more than one occasion. I'm not sure about 4 being not possible or just never seen it due to poor odds.

Then I hope Paraodx brings this back to EU IV cause this sounds really interesting

Royal marriages break when one of the rulers die. Not breaking was actually a bug that was fixed in the recent patches. Much better since before people you longer wanted to be a ally would still take up a relationship slot.

Oh I see. I guess I will have to live with it, but still don't like it at all. I rarely, almost never, want to break a RM, and that's what Diplomatic Ideas is for.

It's only happened once, but I inherited Syria as the Ottomans, while they were my vassal.

I'm not sure if the inherit chance is upped from the very small one for nations you have a RM with in general, though.

Anybody know why RMs with some will break and others not? Some nations it always broke when their or my ruler died. Others it never seemed to break. Also with RM break even if you re-RM immediately I wonder does it lower your chance of getting your dynasty on their throne?

RM now always breaks when the ruler of the nation that offered the RM dies.

In EU IV this was never possible. I don't know if it was possible in EU III but I don't think it was either (I could be wrong about EU III though)

It's possible via an event only, and it's rare.
