I'm experimenting this game on XBOX Pass and I love it so far (basic edition, of course), but....

I have few questions to people playing this game more time than me:
  • Rebellions happen?
  • Can you have vassals and they'll rebel?
  • Insurrection can happen on planets that has a different species under your control?
  • Can I change my ethics? (Playing as the UNE) but I really doubt that we as humans would be Xenophile A VERY BIG IF found out some Alien Species on Milk way, so I want put militarist since seems to be more real to us.
Probably I have more a I keep playing until decide to buy the game on Steam, but if anyone has more to add and tell me I'll be very glad to hear from players

These features exist but basically never happen in stellaris in the current version of the game (without mods).
  1. Vassals are too weak to rebel usually (once you have become a little more experienced with the game you'll dwarf the AI economically and AI vassals of players don't get difficulty bonuses, making th weak).
  2. Insurrection - as you describe it - hasn't been a feature, really, since before v1.5.
  3. Slaves can rebel if planet stability falls below 20% (if I remember right) but even then it takes quite a long time and is trivial to stamp out.
This is caveated by 1) mods on pc can help here (to differing degrees) and 2) there is supposedly an update Devs are working on that might change things in the next update in a few months, but we don't know details yet.

Per ethics, you can set them at game start to whatever you like in the empire maker. And in-game you can shift ethics with factions (you can endorse and suppress them, it's a slow process but it can be done)

Changing ethics depends on at least 20% of your pops embracing a faction that promotes said ethic. This is basically impossible past the early game because the values that control ethics and faction shifts are so low they break the feature, and because you inadvertently stack governing ethics attraction to a point where your pops will hardly follow an ethic you don’t already embrace.

The most reliable way to shift ethics is via becoming the galactic emperor, or (if you’re psionic) embracing The Chosen One as your leader.

when you mention xbox in the title, a mod will likely think you meant to put it in this section of the forums, so i doubt you can get it moved back

you might have to make a new post with some other questions [as the ones you asked were answered], or just deal with it being here [some people that play console also play pc so you can still get some answers/feedback]

That meme is probably the most accurate description of it. However the devs have by this point given us a few more details regarding AI's economy bonuses. Now we can expect them all to be quite formidable which will make playing as Determined Exterminators a LOT more fun. I want the AI to be ABLE to take planets back after I send a fleet in
