I'm confused about Sloviens, Carantanians, Slovenes and Slovaks

In the early start, there are two Slavic tribes living in Bohemia: Czechs (Bohemians) and Sloviens. Seeing that Sloviens occupy territories of what is now Slovakia, I'm confused why they are are not called Slovaks?

Also, Sloviens sound like Slovenes, and, according to Wikipedia, Carantanians = Slovenes, so why they aren't called like that?

Is there some additional migration involved or Paradox just got the names wrong?

The Slovaks and the Slovenes didn't really exist yet within the time frame of the game, just like there weren't yet Czechs but Bohemians.

Slovaks back then were called Slovene/Slovien. It only changed to Slovak in the 15th century, and only really united nationally in the 18th century.

Slovenes coalesced from Carantanians/Carinthians around the 16th century, once again after the events of the game.

In essence, you've got a number of Western/Southern Slavic people who weren't really strongly nation-sized groups during the Middle Ages.
