I'm bored, who to play?

Recently I'm bored with the game. I can't find any country that I find interesting and I didn't play several times. I got all the achievement I find interesting as I don't like when you're forced to play hyper-aggressive or do unreasonable things because why not, or create a snake country across the globe only to get that one certain province.

Are there any not obviously fun countries that I might missed and worth playing?

I find sometimes it best to play something else for awhile. Eventually you'll find your way back naturally. Without having to force it so much

Yep, I know this feeling. It happens to me sometimes and the best cure for me is a little break in playing this game. Have you played as the Aztecs or some other other country in Central / South America? Doom mechanic is very fun to play.

You can try some later start dates, PLC late 1618 on very hard is fun. Try to reform the country and become number one great power.

I would suggest playing a different game. You are just going through a burnout phase; something most of us with a few hours under our belts have gone through. Pick up a new game you’ve been interested in or play an older one you haven’t touched for a while.

If your heart is set on playing EU4 though, I would suggest switching up your playstyle or goals. For example, you can play as a tall France or try and become as wealthy as possible as a merchant republic while trying to not go super wide. Achievement wise there are quite a few that are interesting. Not sure if you’ve done it, but Baltic Crusader as TO is really fun. It gives you a clear goal that you don’t have to rush particularly fast.

Poland immigrtation game - take British islands and Scandinavia w/o PU with Lithuania

Rassid cause their government is fun

Tarascan/Aztec for Doom mechanism

Brasil to conquer whole South America

Lithuania into Ruthenia to vassalise Muscovy and/or Ottos

Sikh gameplay

Fars into Timurids or Persia

After changes in naval invasions Korea is more fun than earlier patches

Release all possible vassals as Ming or France and play one of them. Ming is more fun with Mandate mechanism

Hindu Republic is fun (fe. released colonised by Kutai Australia)

In the latest patch they've add Madyas, which starts as a Hindu republic in the Phillipines. They have ALL the Admiral pips modifiers in their national ideas, so going with them for the Confirm Thallocracy (Having Maritme ideas a be the strongest trade power in all the Indian Ocean trade nodes) is quite a nice goal to aim for.

yeah i'd definitely suggest giving the game a break; i'm currently on one as well. but if you're dead set on playing you can do crazy things like lithuania-release and play as smolensk-kill everyone with only cannons. could also go the sweden to gotland route and just drown everyone with millions of loans. you could do a jewish takeover by starting as ethiopia and releasing and playing as semien. you could do an incredibly boring game and start and end as a free city in HRE. you could do a nepal game and either go bharat of EoC.

I saw one game where a guy started as gb and only would conquest coastal provinces, nothing inland. just a weird way to mix up the game and make you play differently that what you would. right now i think my next game is going to be pure border gore and i'm just gonna start as an opm in europe or something and just make a grid pattern with my conquest.

Civ IV still rocks. Civ V and Civ VI with the 1 UPT are bore-fests.

If you want a challenge/shake up your playstyle in euiv a bit. I'd suggest trying to play as an opm custom nation with new world tech group plus one of the three religions and attempt to reform the religion in the old world.

One of my most memorable and fun games i had was reforming the inti religion starting as an opm in hamburg. Everyone around you will be stronger than you and you'll only really be able to get weak alliances from minors/opms. (starting in the HRE though you'd still have Austria's protection as a pagan but the AE is a pain to deal with...)

I have been at a point of burnout for almost two years now. But a couple weeks ago I felt that itch again and got the Cradle of Civilizations DLC.
I am now playing as MuShaSha, a Shia nation right in the heart of all the (mostly sunni) muslim turmoil ... wedged in between the big boys Ottomans, AqQun, Mamluks, Timurids, Khorasan.
If you start in 1474, you start as AqQun's vassal. It's pretty fun.

As for coming down from burnout, I would suggest not only playing something else but playing ANYTHING else: By which I mean a totally different genre. Don't go civilization or Hoi4 or some RTS ... go play a shooter, a Wargaming game or perhaps an RPG.

Finally I'll recommend you get some total conversion mod. I recommend Extended Timeline,. Meiou and Taxes 2.01, Voltaire's Nightmare, Mesoamerica Universalis, Iaponia Universalis, and any other project on the Steam Workshop that piques your interest.
