flesh is weak metal is strong.
why would anyone want to be a weak meatbag when the option is there to transform into superior synth
Can a synth drink coffee? No and it's a mere imitation of existence.
Synths with Fanatic Spiritualist ethic must be very uncomfortable.
I've seen a thread about it. Apparently they had problems with rights given to them. Talk about deviations.

Genetic modification is your friend. Flesh "weak" no more.

Hmm the funny thing is that bothe the materialist and the spiritualist fallen empire should really hate you for this.
But: Finally my fanatic spiritualist empire gets a justification for crusading through the galaxy. So thank you for that.

Which are inferior in terms of self-repair.
gene modified fleshbags are probably worse at self repair than high tech synths.a synth can just replace a broken arm easily while a fleshbag would probably have problems replacing his arm.
and no a supercomputer don't need to be the size of a football stadium, not in the theoretical future anyway

i feel you underestimate just how powerful full control over genetics would be
Hopefully they add better techs for genetic modifications to balance synth vs bio. It would have to be a massive trait point boost during e.g. the creation of an artificial super race.

That's only true if the synth has easy access to replacable parts. But out in the trenches, when new arms gets shot off, being able to manufacture replacement from simple nutrients may be much easier than finding the nearest vein of titan and other metals and setting up a factory.

As for supercomputers, our limited understanding of how biological ones work limits our ability to predict the maximum extent of their capabilities, so I'll just refer to the fact that we are already at a point where there is little practical need for high cranial computation capabilities.

Sure, you can calculate Pi to the 10...(lots of 0)...th digit. Or you can use an external computer to calculate it for you while your fleshy mmind focuses on more interesting stuff.

About the only real advantage is direct link to external computers, so that one would not need to use eyes, but then Stellaris has Psionics.

I think both of you are forgetting that sufficiently advanced forms of bio or synth tech would become essentially indistinguishable from each other in terms of capacity.
