Playing Turkey in IGC v 2.3 and I have a few questions that popped up late in the game (currently in 1689).
-Any reason I stopped getting colonists in the 1660s? It does not appear to be related to the values in the colonists.csv file, but if it is, can someone tell me how to edit this? It may be related to a monarch with and administrative rating of 2 - could this be the cause?
-Is there any hope of keeping pace with my opponents military technology? I understand from other posts that different countries have different costs associated with advancing their techs, is this information accessible? Does it change over time?
-Anyone know a good strategy page? I have searched lots of links but have not had much luck.

Thanks

In EU1 colonists just run out for certain nations at certain times. U could cheat in new ones though. Turkey is in a slower tech group than most European nations. A good economy can keep u on about the same level as the West.

Has anyone tried annexing Venice as soon as possible? Does it raise the BB rating too much?

I would think it would raise the BB rating a bit. But that leads me to a question. How many BB points do u have to have before u anger the other countries enough to DOW u. Also, what determines how many BB points u get if u annex a certain country.

BB points for annexation generally are based on the size of the country and their religion. (You get more points for bigger countries and ones of the same religion as you, I think).

As far as economic matters, if you crash trade research early (though it seems late for you to do it now) you can increase your trade income, and then you'll have more money for research later on. Turkey is in a slower-progressing tech group than most of Europe, but your neighbors (except on the northwestern side) are too (Persia, Mameluks, the North African countries, and the Arabian/East African countries all - except for a couple that are in an even slower group.) So in the meantime (while catching up) don't fight wars against European powers, unless you can't avoid it, or can overwhelm them by force of numbers.

As far as running low on colonists - were they from "colonial dynamism"? If so this varies over time - some countries go from 0 to 3 or 4/year in different time periods due to this. (Spain and Portugal start high and go low later; England, France, Russia and Netherlands (I think) start at 0 or 1 and go up over time.) I'm not sure, but I think Turkey has some early on - perhaps it did, and then it went away.

Has anyone tried annexing Venice as soon as possible? Does it raise the BB rating too much?

I annexed Venice in the first few years. It raised the BB rating a bit, but if you stay low for some time it will change again to neutral.

High levels of Land-tech is possible by just spending all of the money on land research, but this will mean slow advance of the rest. Try to research infrastructure to lvl 5, so you can promote mayors to drop inflation. This will affect everything.

At the end of my game i had annexed: Venice, Hungary, Persia, Georgia, Mameluks, Nubia, Marroco(Event). Also had several provinces in: Spain, Poland, Papal States, Iraq, Entire Northern part of South America, North America, Central America, The Entire pathway to China and In South East Azia.

This achievement didn't put me on everybody's friendlist, so if its going really bad, go to the "name savegame.eug" and change the realation stands.
