A few years ago I held the prestigious title of Acolyte of the Hyperspanner after I changed the damaged light switches in the bathroom and living room and an electrical socket in the kitchen. Being the only university student housemate with DIY skills elevated me to godhood status for some reason.

Learn basic DIY kids, you get worshipped for fixing things.

Mine (trucker) doesn't exist as a job in Stellaris. Goods and resources are apparently just magically teleported wherever you need them.

I wish they'd finally create visual trade and transport ships going from planet to planet and system to system. A trucker/freighter captain job would be fun.

Tough choice. Guess I'd wanna be an army general. These guys do literally nothing for decades before directing an invasion of several planets, using force so overwhelming that the invasion is just a formality. And I'd actually get paid for that. There is no drawbacks, if your empire has competent leader and admirals.

Merchant/clerk? Should be specialist tier - but we lack a trade value producer in that tier. Besides I don't think I produce any amenities.

At the moment I deliver the mail. I'm not entirely sure which job that would be but I guess I'm producing amenities. Once I'm done at uni I'll be a historian so I guess that could count as a researcher in society?

I'm on the opposite end of you, working a receiving dock. I'd guess my job would be Clerk, though I could be in the same boat as you, since logistics for supplies seems to be a problem of the distant past in Stellaris.
