So yesterday I checked this forum and saw all the enthusiasm about HTTT and went and bought it.

Today I fired up a game as Naples and hit two bugs before 1401.

I turned my monarch into a military leader, and then when combining stacks, he gets lost. He's permanently leading one of the disbanded stacks.

Fine, annoying, but okay.

Then I canceled my alliance with Provence. A month or so later, France declares war on Provence (as I figured they would sooner or later). I'm forced to honor the treaty that no longer exists!

So I come here to check for fixes, get all excited to see that there's already a 4.1, and find that the patch notes mention neither of these bugs.

So anyway, I'm shelving the game until I see a 4.2. If you haven't bought HTTT yet, I'd suggest saving your money until the thing's been playtested a little.

The interesting thing about bugs is they can't get fixed if they aren't reported.

As dsstalo pointed out the second one isn't a bug, and given the fact that the game has been out for three days, the first one is obscure enough that it just might not have been reported yet.

1st one is a known bug actually the minor partner has stolen your leader, for the time being there is a work around you have to make for every king you make leader which i'll post in a moment.

Here is an example from my game playing poland

when you first save after making your monarch a leader this entry is created for the lesser partner

Code:
   monarch=
            {
                name="Kazimierz IV"
                DIP=7
                ADM=7
                MIL=4
                id=
                {
                    id=4838
                    type=37
                }
                [COLOR="Red"][B]leader=
                {
                    name="Kazimierz IV Jagiellon"
                    type=general
                    manuever=1
                    fire=0
                    shock=2
                    siege=1
                    activation="1492.1.2"
                    id=
                    {
                        id=1279
                        type=38
                    }[/B]
                }[/COLOR]

This is what makes them steal the leader directly after reload. After deleting the leader part of the entry in the save Lithuania did not steal my leader and any further saves did not create this entry.

Don't forget make a backup of your save before you do this

Also, both of these would have happened in any PU prior to HTTT.

I'm finding Heir perfectly playable atm. A tad unbalanced in places, but it's definetly playable.

And the reason for the first case was only recently discovered.

I agree with the majority of poster in this threat, that this is a pretty solid release. I have played about 15 hours so far, and I dont think I'v came across a single bug yet. There does need to be some more balancing which is expected from any strat game i'v ever played, and possible some tweaking to the Heir's and DoW's

I know H3T is not perfect but its one of the best Version x.0 releases I'v ever played from PI.

Glad to hear you guys are enjoying it for the most part, but I won't be buying HTTT until it's MMP2 compatible. I just can't stand all the blobbing in vanilla. I saw the screenshots of someone who had managed to get the HRE nation fully formed and controlling half of Europe by 1450 and that was enough to convince me I made the right decision to wait.

I did exactly the same thing yesterday in my first HTTT game. Played Napels and made my king into a general. But mine didn't go lost.

I don't think "managed" is the right word, seems the HRE forms the majority of the time, it's just a matter of waiting. :D

All I can say is that I haven't encountered the bugs the OP describes and I'm having more fun with vanilla EU than I have in a long time. I've played nothing but MMP for the last year or so, and while I like it, HttT strikes me as offering more challenge and options than the earlier versions of EU, but without being the torture session that MMP can often become.

I'm sure I'll jump on the MMP version of HttT when it comes out. But I'm a happy camper at the moment.

Yeah I haven't lost a single monarch general yet...

you'll never have it happen if your lesser partner has enough generals for their Armies of significant size. Playing as Poland i didn't have my monarch stolen until i got Lithuania into a war which made them increase their troops until they had 4 armies but only 3 generals.

i hate how when people bring concerns / bugs / suggestions to the forums, people redirect them to entering in code and doing all kinds of other crap as a workaround. why can't the game just work is the point. no one enjoys going on a forum to get a workaround to a game that's such a time-hole

i think the real issue is europa 3, up to and including this release, is simply really unpolished

that said, im really enjoying httt. i wish it didnt have so much emphasis on europe though, even though it's called europa. dont need to skrew over the rest of the world simply because the emphasis is on europe.

Many games have been released less stable than this. Some new bugs have been added. Some of the new gameplay elements will definitely need tweaked.

Do any of these problems make the game unplayable? Not even close.

Do they make the game less playable than IN? I guess that one is a matter of opinion. Certainly not the handful of fairly minor bugs. Possibly the imbalance created by all the new features. They fill up some holes in the design, but not quite seamlessly. Heir to the Throne just doesn't feel as much a finished product as In Nomine. I suspect that will be improved with future updates, and certainly wouldn't criticize someone who chose to wait. You could probably even save a few bucks by doing so.

I bought it already though, and don't regret my decision in the slightest. I can't stress enough that it is definitely playable in it's current form.
