Look, you hate the state of the game; that’s perfectly ok. You are correct about the issues you have with it, there are many issues. The current state of the game does not live up to your expectations, and that is 100% your right to be unhappy about.

So please, PLEASE, stop wasting your time playing it! Play Vicky 2, play Stellaris, play HOI or EU or CK, or play civilization or age of empires or frickin’ Fortnite if you want. Life is too short to play a game that is making you miserable. And then, you’re wasting even more of your life posting about your frustrations to this forum, where you’re only making everyone, lovers and haters of the game, more upset, and diminishing everyone’s overall life experience and contentment.

Please, for your own sake, go play games you like. Check back with Vicky 3 every 6 months, play it for a day or two, if you like it better, great, if not, go play the games you like more. This will improve your quality of life, I promise you. Stop wasting time on a game you despise, and go enjoy the games you love.

I have seen a lot that express varying levels of disappointment or concern, many which offer feedback and suggestions. This is hardly hatred.

As a general rule people don’t think how to improve something they hate. They just want to avoid it or destroy it completely.

The criticism indicates to me that a lot of players feel that there are enough positive points about the game to be worth saving, but it's not worth playing in its current state. Many or most have stopped playing it, but keep checking back here, trying/hoping to get some kind of developer reaction to fix it.

Then there are the players who feel that nothing is wrong, and anyone who feels otherwise is some kind of evil monster. Personally, I saw the train leave the rails well before release, and decided that I'd rather wait to see if the DLCs solve some of the more blatant issues.

I dont hate it. I want them to fix the game so I can actually enjoy playing it.

I want them to actually spend their working hours on fixing the war mechanics. I enjoyed the economic aspect of the game... But I'am not going to be spending ALL MY TIME working on increasing my GDP because the war system is total garbage because nobody put enough thought and work into it to begin with!!!!!!!!

I dont want the devs splitting 95% of their time working on their on personal projects and going on vacation for 3 months straight.

I no longer have the patience to wait 5 years for the "Victoria 3: Definitive Edition: We fixed the War System. Promised" to come out.

Though you can argue about the results, this is wrong. The pre-release discord QnA mentioned that the system the devs had the most challenges with was the warfare one.

This didn't happen. The jam dev diaries were about what they were doing with their free time, not while working.

If I had a dime for each time I've seen "censor" used for something that is absolutely not censoring, I could buy Paradox, make a new version of every game they've ever made with the Victoria war system, and still have enough left over to finish the perfect version of Bloodl- that is, The Game That Must Not Be Named.

I've accepted this game is a failure to me and all my fairly popular posts before and directly after the game launched are pointless because it's never going to be the game I thought it was going to be when I heard of a Vicky2 sequel.

Hope you guys have fun. I'll stick to all the other paradox games that I actually enjoy. Wish I'd get a modern version of the game I liked though. Still haven't heard anyone speak positively about this game anywhere irl. Wonder who you guys are. The age of your account makes me wonder if I've ever known people like you before.

I kinda envy if you live somewhere where people talk about Vicky 3 irl. And yes, the best thing to do if you know you're never going to love a game is to let go and move on to something else rather than stewing in impotent rage about it. I've done it too (sorry, Exalted 3e). I think it's unfortunate that you dislike Victoria 3 that much, but more power to you in finding something you will like.

Also, the age of accounts don't make posters more or less worthy of being listened to. Unfortunately for me!

I played an hour of Vicky 3 when it was released and put it back on the shelf. I’ve only recently been putting serious hours into it in the 1.2 beta.

This is because the Devs are actually listening to the testers and considering feedback. The fact that they gave in on Autonomous investment is a good sign and was the correct decision. I wouldn’t say the economy feels alive, but it’s does feel more organic.

Still a lot of clicking around…manual trade is exhausting. I didn’t understand this design choice with Imperator, and I understand it even less in Vicky 3. It’s NOT fun.

In a twisted way, they got rid of war ostensibly because of the micro intensive nature of previous PDS war mechanics, and gave us an incredibly micro intensive trade and production system.

That being said, as long as they continue to listen I’ll keep playing the beta

Essentially this. Video game forums are for discussing the game. That can be the negatives and the positives. Talking about the negatives is way more productive since it provides feedback to the developers to make it a better game in the long run.

I'm 100% with you OP. These forums used to be one of the best places on the internet, full of people interested in history and games discussing the games they enjoy.
At some point (a few years ago now) they became dominated by people complaining that their pet peeve makes the game literally unplayable and insulting the devs for not addressing it immediately.
I barely bother with these forums now. They are just too grim and crushing a place.

I just jumped on to get an update on the 1.2 release, and sure enough on the front page I find:

• Interest groups make no sense (complete with sly dig at the devs
• The game didn't meet the vision (complete with statement PDX games often disappoint players and a list of "failures")
• Armies and navies anchored to regions is ridiculous (OP in this one nicely gives devs credit for improvement, before first response ruins it by calling it an "abomination")

Its somehow fallen into a sorry state of constant negativity. I don't know if its people who think that constantly bashing the devs will somehow make the devs want to deal with their pet peeve, or if people have just fallen into the viscous cycle of negativity that often happens to forums, because the people who are having fun are busy having fun, so only the complainers remain behind.
