Better military system and cadet branches shouldn't be DLC features... I mean... how would you make Cadet branches DLC only? Make France unplayable because France was ruled nearly allways by Cadet dynasties?
There would be no cadet branches for those without the DLC, just like for the hordes in Horse Lords.

I'm pretty sure Paradox could get past the Mohammad issue by simply abstracting him into just a few different events. I know this would probably not be satisfactory from a gameplay perspective (since you obviously can't play as him, as he would only be vaguely mentioned through events), but if Paradox wants to avoid pissing off some people, then that's probably the best way to do it. Or Paradox could just say screw it and portray him anyway. Either option is fine.

The Problem is: Mohammed was a ruler. They can't just portrait him only by event. He was a ruler and he has a own important dynasty. How would you portrait his dynasty and the whole family connections without Mohammed? And who should rule if not he himself? He was way to important to just portrait him with events. That's not that easy.

That's not that easy.

Get creative. When you go to try to see who the ruler is off your nation, it simply won't say, it will only show your wife(s) and kids.

I know from the gameplay side of things that would suck, because as far as the game is concerned, you would effectively just be the nameless entity overseeing the first Caliphate (kinda like how you're just the nameless entity of ruling a country in EU4 or HOI4), but it wouldn't be that hard to get around. Just think out of the box, abstract a lot, and be vague.

- new mechanics for crusades and holy wars (disputed territories, mechanics for when big armies cross your territory and destroy everything, forced walk...)
- new dynastic mechanics, with cadet branches
- heraldry overhaul (with proper colours, more variety, and meaningful changes, with cadencies at least ofr bastard, and fusioned coats of arms for dynasties who... well, fusion)
- new navy mechanics (not necessarily proper fleet combat, but building a fleet has been great business in the Middle Ages, it should be more complicated than it is currently, including for Vikings - you should need to find the wood)
- cathedrals (long term building, very costly...)
- monasteries, or rather monastic orders (that works kinda like a hybrid of merchant republics and military orders, and more interesting than purely theorcratic governments ; can also be adapted for Indian monastic schools)

What I would want is a late game DLC including the early renaissance, the introduction of gunpowder, banks, corruption mechanics, better support for the 100 years war, improved HRE, cadet branches and other general love for the late game. Currently the year 1400 feels exactly the same as the year 867, just with less Vikings.

On top of that I'd add a lot more military orders (Catholic Order of the Holy Sepulchre, St Lazarus and many regional orders come to mind), but in doing so, reduce the amount of troops each order has as to keep the game balanced.
Theocracies should be playable (by using the trade republic mechanic, but instead of using dynasties, use religious schools of thought).
Schism mechanics for the Great Schism and the Western Schism (also allow Catholics the ability to mend the Great Schism).

Charlemagne was already pushing it in terms of balance and accuracy. Anything further back would be a farce.

I think they should add more start dates in between the current ones rather than further beforehand. I'd like a Brunanburh start date, and an Anarchy start date.

This game is based on feudalism. And people want to introduce start dates that pre date feudalism by centuries...why?

Charlemagne was already pushing it in terms of balance and accuracy. Anything further back would be a farce.

It's that filthy EU:Rome 2 crowd. They want CKII pushed as far back as possible, their nefarious plot calls for the start date to be 472, with most of Continental Europe tribal excluding Soissions and mainland Italy. ;)

Am i the only one who would have loved to play as a baron ? With the deeper gameplay the baronnies would require, it would be great. ATM we don't have many interactions with them...

If I have to chose, map expansion before pushing the start date further back. CM and TOG are to far back already, I would prefer CK deal with the period from Manzikert to the reformation.

Playing as a Baron would be about as deep as a puddle. And more events for inconsequential rulers would overtax the engine for no benefit.
