Well, if (as Incompetent stated, not sure if I can trust someone with such nickname ;) )morale increases morale damage, then You have higher chance of stack wipe.

One of those circumstances being when you have huge discipline and combat ability bonuses. The difference between an enemy that routs early and saves their artillery and an enemy left with a bunch of 0-size artillery after staying in for another week is pretty big.

An enemy that actually routs (i.e. breaks in the first round of combat) is wiped, so they don't save anything.

The best way to take advantage of high morale versus the AI is to bait them into attacking a small army, and then follow up with your main army, so the main battle is fought with defensive bonuses. With not enough morale, your bait army is liable to break before the reinforcements arrive.

In any case, at worst you can treat a morale bonus as if it were a reduced maintenance cost, because you can always reduce the morale of your armies by lowering maintenance temporarily. (This reduces reinforcement rate as well, but that's not going to matter much in the middle of a battle.)

Prussian ideas are AMAZING for combat I agree with 100%.

I'd also love to be able to put Hamburg ideas on people who can easily be republics. Mostly because it's one of the two that get a 0.5 bonus to republican tradition and I like their ideas more then novgorod. With two policies you can get 1.9 republican tradition a year and roll those 6/6/6 rulers in your republics without too much tradition sacrifice so things like stability aren't so expensive.

Hamburg is just fun but hard to be and not possible to be in iron man since you can't play as a released nation. When I get my SSD to finish off my computer I was going to switch to ironman. (monthly saving is a pain without an SSD)

any horde with polish ideas. So much horsing around.

It would behoove you to stop making horse jokes -- you need to rein it in. (Sorry, I'm not trying to stirrup any trouble.)

Anyway, yeah. Polish ideas are solid enough to ride to victory, especially if you can harness all those other military ideas. The whole group's foal of really solid and stable boosts.

Trebizond with Byzantine ideas just for a head start on the legitimate Komnenian ERE? I don't know.

I don't really see the point of getting e.g. Prussian ideas for some minor, since that would just make an interesting start more generic. Someone with generic/group ideas might be more interesting with a fitting set stolen from someone else, though.

From that perspective there are a lot of stuff to have.

Japan with Najd ideas. Shinto Jihad anyone? Same applies to animist countries.

Brittany with Dutch ideas. Eat that, merchant republics!

Ottoman ideas on Ming ;)

Hamburg ideas on Tibet. Sweet taste of eastern democracy.

I guess nobody thought of this. Horde ideas on any major country. The horde ideas are great in a vacuum, the hordes are held back by the units and tech deficit.

Less nationalism (ergo less revolt risk while conquering), reduced coring cost (also implies faster coring), extra shock (great early game, when you want to start snowballing), a ton of direct and indirect manpower benefits (also great to start snowballing), no cost for reinforcing (major snowballing help!). Sure Prussian ideas are cute, but what use are they when my France with horde ideas is 4x your France with Prussian ideas? :)
