Well readers, since the weekend is the long pause between updates, I thought I've give you all something to think about and predict.

Nubia has survived for more than a hundred years now and six different men have sat on the throne. Each Nubian king has had a seperate name, but we all know that can't go on forever. Sooner or later a king will be crowned with the same name as one of his forebarers. We almost had a Georgios II, only an early death prevented him from ruling.

So my question to all of you, who will be the first King _____ II of Nubia?

The guessing will stay open until the event happens. I look forward to seeing all of your guesses.

If You Can't Do It, Nubia Can!
A story with lots of pictures and plenty of words

James I, the Cuman Slayer, and his Search for Adventure

Regency of Zacharias, Prince of Lower Egypt

1174-5

111001u.jpg

Perhaps I was I bit too hasty in saying Ayyub should just go ahead and start whatever wars he wanted.

Ayyub assures me it’s a good idea. After all, past kings of Nubia have sworn eternal vengeance upon the Byzanitnes. Secondly, there are still parts of Anatolia under Byzantine control, despite my grandfather’s wishes. Finally, some of the land Nubia lost during Kemaladdin’s reign has since passed into Byzantine control.

111002j.jpg

This settles it, I was too hasty. That crazy marshal has gotten us in deep now.

111003i.jpg

Ayyub has it all planned out though. Apparently he’s not worried at all. He sends an army to western Crete, which has rejoined the Byzantines.

111004.jpg

Another force heads to eastern Crete.

111005.jpg

Southern Cyprus is the target of a third army, plus there are forces moving in Anatolia. Seeing all these plans and armies is making me feel a lot better about this war.

111006.jpg

There are no enemy troops in Siracusa. There are no enemy troops on the island of Sicily. There are no enemies within several hundred miles of Sicily. Yet somehow enemy soldiers managed to burn Siracusa’s fishing wharf.

Only in Nubia.

111007.jpg

The Byzantines may have amazing long distance arson skills, but that doesn’t help them protect Ankyra from James’ armies.

111008.jpg

Or Nikomedeia. Now it’s time to push into Greece to force the Emperor to the table. Onward to Constantinople itself.

111009.jpg

I manage to pull some strings and grease some palms in order for teachers to say the king’s sister did well in her education. I don’t think she was even there half the time but appearances have to be kept up.

111010.jpg

Nubia’s First Siege of Constantinople ends in disaster when a Byzantine relief army slaughters almost all of the five thousand besiegers. Things aren’t starting to look so good.

Is the war turning around? How is the fighting on the islands progressing? What will Nubia’s next move in Greece be? Has Ayyub bitten off more than he can chew? Find out with If You Can’t Do It, Nubia Can!

Perhaps this was part of their covert long distance operations to distract you whilst you were attacking Constantinople!! I guess it worked!!!

At least it was a dock and not a school this time. Education is important!

This requires a cunning plan! Quickly!:D

I don't know about cunning, but we can throw overwhelming numbers at the problem. Will that work?

Wilhelm Monokariwhateveritis???

I'm not sure how it happened, but there are Germans living in Byzantine, some of whom will become rather important soon.

A good question.
There be Greeks living in Syracuse, and it seems they are rather for a pro-Greek ruler. :p

The ungrateful snots should be glad they aren't living under Muslim rule anymore.

If You Can't Do It, Nubia Can!
A story with lots of pictures and plenty of words

James I, the Cuman Slayer, and his Search for Adventure

1175-7

111101.jpg

Hello everyone. I am James, King of Nubia. I’d show you a picture of myself, but I have better things to do than pose for portraits. Like party with my friends. Ale for everyone!

So there’s a war going on. And not only did the army at Constantinople get slaughtered, the thrice accursed Byzantines pushed into Anatolia again. We’ll have to move fast to keep this war from falling apart.

111102n.jpg

I send orders to redouble the attack. Fifteen thousand soldiers prepare to take the Queen of Cities.

111103.jpg

Now I know the Byzantines have risen to prominence as the major enemies of Nubia, but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about the Turks. They are out there on the boarders, lurking in the shadows, ready to strike. We are nowhere near the point where I would actually invite armed Turkish soldiers anywhere near my troops.

At the end of the day, the Turks are still Nubia’s foes.

111104.jpg

Egads! It is not possible for us to fight a war without treachery? We really need to work on camp security.

111105.jpg

This is getting crazy. The army at Constantinople is withering away, and it hasn’t even had to fight a battle.

Come on people, I just turned sixteen, give me a chance to get used to actually ruling. And really, if you need a sixteen year old to tell you what to do, perhaps the army is better off without you in it.

111106.jpg

It has happened. Nubia has breached the greatest fortifications in the world. Constantinople is mine.

111107.jpg

Unfortunately winning a siege is not the same as winning the war. And the Byzantines are far from being out of armies.

The Heroes of Constantinople had scant time to celebrate their glory before being killed marching from the city.

111108.jpg

And the next force I send is wiped out as well. Thankfully, while things around Constantinople aren’t going well, the rest of the empire is pretty much under my control.

111109.jpg

Now it’s time to get married. Look at her nose. That’s okay, I don’t plan to be having much sex with her. After all, there are lots of women in Nubia.

Will James keep Constantinople? What will his marriage be like? Is Nubia even winning the war? How many more lives will this war take? Find out with If You Can’t Do It, Nubia Can!

A Greek wife? That'll only lead to trouble. You can't trust a Byzantine!

On that basis, I'm going to vote for Alexios II, as the dynasty is taken over by nefarious Greeks.

Yeah, I hope there are some bastards in the background and plans to make them legit - I doubt you'll get many kids out of a 26 year old! Or maybe you married her for the dowry? And have a good Spy Master in the background with a knife or two? Can't wait to find out!

I wouldn't pick a wife that much older unless she had much higher stats.

That's because you're spoiled with DV's bride finder. After clicking through fifty plus courts looking for a combination of young and skilled you start accepting compromise canidates.
