Last patch put me in a difficult situation.
Apart from the fact that the latest patch contains many bugs. Previously, it was not quite sure which direction the EU4 would go. It was possible to have hope.
Now (after this shit named "Leviathan" / v1.31) balance between "map painter" and "interesting game with depth" has been destroyed and definitely moved to "map painter" with some new gadgets for all costs. This policy is clearly visible, maybe that is what most players want.
I am very disappointed, because I really do not want to play in this version of game but it looks as impossible to change this way, so there are only two ways: playing on 1.30.6 or stop playing completely, especially if you want to play in multiplayer.
The current game state is quite stable though. I feel EU4 is in quite a good spot. My only concern is concentrate development (pillage capital is fine IMO, it gives AE, costs warscore and dip power). Other than that I'm having quite a bit of fun.
I had my reservations at first, but I really like the carpet siege ability. Just siege forts yourself and then automate a ton of small stacks and they will siege every non-fort province for you. (I only recently discovered you don't need to click on areas to siege, if you just click accept they siege everything for you, even the other side of the globe as long as there is a valid movement path). I also like that you can now sort by government capacity and sort that to build courthouses.
If concentrate development is the only reason for not playing the current patch you can just disable leviathan and still play on the current patch.
I feel like a lot of people always worship the old ways/patches, but forget a lot of useful stuff came out too. Especially some QOL stuff. Maybe I'm just happy we're not having westernization, restricted movement of capital city, unlimited and OP TC's, old estate system, an even more abusable AI than now (remember when the AI didn't change orders on movement after being given? You could literally have a defensive battle with the AI in Mountains every game, all game), every province has a fort and many many more things anymore.
Are there issues? Sure. But when haven't there been? And I really don't feel the issues now are worse than in the past. (Again: other than concentrate development).
Edit: made the post a bit more clear.
