KuK Minister: My Emperor, your son Franz Ferdinand has been assassinated during his visit in Sarajevo. We suspect Serbian nationalists behind this.
Franz Jospeh: That's ... excellent! It's an perfect excuse to establish a new satellite in Serbia.
KuK Minister: What?
FJ: You know, a state that does exactly what we order it to do.
KuK Minister: So, new territory for our Empire?
FJ: No, that might totally upset everyone, even the Germans. You know, just a puppet?
KuK Minister: My liege, this is not possible?
FJ: Excuse me?
KuK Minister: You can only claim the Kingdom for yourself or push someone else's claim on the Kingdom. However, the relationship bonus for pushing the claim will only last until the ruler dies. Sadly nobody in your (extensive) dynasty has a strong claim on Serbia, so you won't even get the +5 relationship bonus for the same dynasty and the possibility of the two titles sooner or later falling under the same person. Furthermore, as the country is not in a regency or ruled by a woman you cannot push weak claims. Lastly, no claimant to the throne is willing to join your court.
FJ: ... damn. So we ... just go for good old conquest?
KuK Minister: Very well, do you have a casus belli?
FJ: Those damned Serbs just murdered my son and heir?
KuK Minister: You don't possess a claim on the Kingdom of Serbia?
FJ: No ...
KuK Minister: Then we sadly can not go to war. You could however start to fabricate a claim on their lands.
FJ: How long would that take?
KuK Minister: A few decades, most likely.
FJ: Ok, so we start now andd dear Charles will put those Serbs down to size.
KuK Minister: No no no, my liege, any claim you fabricate will expire the day you die. As you are pretty old already, using your chancellor this way would be highly wasteful. Just send him to improve some relations somewhere.
FJ: So you are telling my that I can NOT declare war on the country that just murdered my son and heir in order to push their claims on Bosnia?!
KuK Minister: Indeed, my lord.

Satalites are possible in CK2, they are called tributaries. Nothing is ahistorically stopping you, just make one. Or maybe your playing an older version of Ck2?

A.D. 968 - Gniezno (Polish Capital)

Chancellor: My lord Mieszko, I have great news.
Mieszko I: I am listening.
Chancellor: Your Court Chaplain was trying to convert local pagans to our new faith for over two years. without any success. The whole population of the province was following the old ways. But today, the chaplain gave hell of the speech. In one day everyone just abandoned their faith and are Catholics now.
Mieszko I: Nice. It reminds me the situation in the east. I have conquered some Ruthenian province and after some time, the whole population of the province just forgot their language over the night and are speaking Polish now.

2nd Story:

A.D. 712 - Cordoba (Spain)

Tariq ibn Ziyad is visiting new land he conquered.
Tariq ibn Ziyad: Hey peasant - what is this ruin?
Peasant: It used to be Cabellero Training Ground, but after you conquered this land it suddenly collapsed without any visible reason.
Tariq ibn Ziyad: Rebuild it at once!
Peasant: I am sorry, but the only building we know how to build here is now Camel Riding Ground.

1095:

Pope Urbanus II calls the crusade. Somewhere in nice, little Belgium there is a guy, named Godefroy de Bouillon, who answers the call. He takes out a loan and raises his banners, about 4k strong, and he's confident, upon hearing that all the Scandinavian and Irish principalities have joined the holy call for war, that he will succeed in battle and reclaim the holy land. To be certain, he checks his ledger one more time... It says Fatimid Caliphate: 20k men. He quickly did the math in his head, he had 4k, those Irish and Scandinavian principlaties have about 2k each, the Pope has 4k, and ofcourse those bloody greedy Sicilian bastards (literally bastards) have about 5k. Well, that should be a 10k lead, surely, nothing can go wrong. So Godefroy goes to bed, tomorrow he will set sail with his entire army.

After about 2 months at sea, having sailed from the Belgian coast, up towards Scandinavia, through to the Baltic, down the Russian rivers, past Constantinople, into the Mediterrenean Sea, he finally arrives on the coast of the Levant. He is now nearly bankrupt, but he should just have enough to pay his troops until he sieged down half of jerusalem, perhaps he'll capture a few lord and gets rich from the ransom. He sees many ships there, with Christian banners. He's about to land his army when a messenger on a horse arrives, he claims to have an urgent message from the Sicilians.

It reads: I have just been defeated by a huge ******** doomstack, they had about 20k man, what could I do?!?!? So frigging broken...

Another messenger appears, this one is of the Duchy of Connaught, which made Godefroy wonder how the hell this guy got here before him, but nevermind... He reads: I have just been defeated by a huge ******** doomstack, they had about 20k man, what could I do?!?!?

Godefroy looks at the horizon in despair, only to see about 10 more messengers emerging in the distance. They all carry a similar message. The last one carries the Papal banner. Godefroy is now almost in tears, tell me! he demands from the messenger. The messenger stares at his feet, in shame... he stutters: Well umm, I was part of this Papal Army you know, and the Pope decided it would be fun to go do some little sightseeing in Alexandria, before we'd head out to take Jerusalem. And there we got surprised by a huge ******** doomstack, they had about 20k man, we could do nothing... And they captured the pope... Crusade is over bro...

Godefroy ragequits.

is this a swimming horse or am i missing something?

ye, you clearly missed that they sailed to the levant via the Russian rivers, from this you can deduce that the ship isn't very deeplying, and therefor it can anchor very close to the coast. It would be possible, albeit not the most convenient, for the messenger to wade his horse a bit into the water, toss the message onto the ship's deck, or shout the message to the lord.

1412.

Time has slowed to a near complete crawl. God didn't make very many intelligent design decisions during the development of the universe.

I lack Charlemagne, Rajas of India and Horse Lords. CK2 is pretty mkuch third in line among my GSGs, and I'm just throwing way too much money on EU4 already.

Heavens have mercy upon my wallet once Stellaris comes out.

No way the revolt of Shervin and Vandad Hormozd against the Abbasids would have worked in CK2.

3rd Story:

A.D. 635 - Constantinople (Eastern Roman Empire)

After long negotiations with shahanshah Yazdegerd III, basileus Heraclius is finally happy with the result. The common enemy - Arabs needs to be destroyed. In order to do that the alliance with Persia is needed. Heraclius made sure, that every rule is kept. He is going to marry Yazdegerd III daughter, because this is the only way to forge alliance. A lot of claims in Syria will secure proper casus belli for war with Arabs. Now he only wants to discus details of his plan with his magistros.

Heraclius: So the plan is to marry Yazdegerd III daughter to get alliance with Persia and than attack Arabs using "Claim All" casus belli. Do you have any remarks?
Magistros: Those Sasanids are Zoroastrians. You cannot marry with them.
Heraclius: I know, we have our religion differences, but times are hard and we need to put it aside, to fight common threat.
Magistros: I meant you really can not marry Zoroastrian. She got "Must not marry an infidel" limit.
Heraclius: What? Isn't there anything I can do about it?
Magistros: Well... You can move our capital to some Zoroastrian province, than convert to local religion, marry Yazdegerd III daughter, move capital back to Constantinople and convert back to Orthodox.
Heraclius: That seems to be a little bit gamey, but if it works... One more thing. What is this Orthodox thing you were talking about? I am just Christian, am I?
Magistros: Didn't you hear about the Schism?
Heraclius: Nope.
Magistros: Well maybe because the conflict between the bishop of Rome and patriarch of Constantinople will happen in more than three hundred years. But in preparation for that, the Europe is already divided into Catholics and Orthodoxes.
Heraclius: This makes me dizzy. I don't think I can realize my plan.
Magistros: It doesn't matter. The Green Blob wins always anyway.
Heraclius: What? ...

Didn't Yazdegerd III have at least one christian cousin?
Doesn't matter, since the liege determines this modifier - you can have a "Must not marry infidel" between fellow catholics when one is in the court of an infidel.

Holy Roman Empire, round about 1600:

The Kaiser: "Hey, how comes, the imperial treasury is so empty since I reconquered those city states in Italy after their futile attempt at independance?"
Minister: "Mein Kaiser, your vassals have stopped paying you any taxes, so you only have your demesne income from your holdings in Franconia."
Kaiser: "What? Treason! Hey, you over there, steward, you are the count of savoy? Why do you refuse to pay your due taxes?"
Steward: "Mein Kaiser, you are 10 vassals above your vassal limit. Can you even keep track of all this?"
Kaiser: "I AM THE KAISER OF THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE OF GERMAN NATIONS..."
Minister: "...and Frisean, Bavatian, Burgundian, Italian, Czech and some pomeranians..."
Kaiser: "Shut up! ...And I can easily remember 40 different people."
Steward: "Well, maybe but I just don't feel like paying taxes when there are so many vassals around."
Kaiser: "Traitor, taxes are not voluntary! Guards, imprison this man."
Minister: "But mein Kaiser, he has done nothing wrong, that would be tyranny."
Kaiser: "Don't care, just replayce him with someone willing to pay the taxes, as defined in the castle tax law established by my great-great-grandfather..."
Minister: "Mein Kaiser, NOBODY will pay you taxes unless you reorganize this clusterfuck of an empire, maybe create some Kingdom titles and hand them out for once. Even just putting all your vassal counts and Burgmeisters of your imperial cities under dukes and maybe creating 3 or 4 double-dukes would help. That's the rules, they are necessary to stop you from blobing all over the map."
