On the bright side, with Austria now being so poor that they have not a single dime to their name, it won't take long for the country to fall apart, break away from Austria and then be poached by Napoleon. They're not Muslims after all, so an empire collapsing is possible!
Nah, they created the realm from the HRE, which was Elective, so they have +20 opinion with all of their vassals.

Yeah, but he destroyed the HRE, remember? That'd make the newly-formed Austrian Empire the default Gavelkind, with the elective HRE gone and every vassal with a -50 "You crushed my liege title" malus.

He created Austria first, so it's Elective, but you are right about the second point. That's why he created the empire tier German Confederation.

Minister of Defence: Budget report, Mr. President, the wars in the middle east are costing us several billions per month.
President: Very well then.

*later*

President: I need to hold an official dinner to talk with diplomats, put the food costs in the budget.
Minister of Finance: Yes sir, that's going to be 1.83 trillion dollars.
President: What?
MoF: Well, everyone knows that purchasing food for a feast costs a relative portion of money compared to the economy!

War has ended inconclusively (Harold Godwinson has died)

Except the war doesn't end inconclusively if Harold dies, you just continue fighting the new king.

410 A.D.

Stilicho: Emperor Honorius, the Barbarians are invading from their homelands in Germany! Our armies are depleted! Rome is spent!

Honorius: There is nothing to be worried about.

Stilicho: WHAT? WE HAVE NO ARMIES!

Honorius: Relax, my martial. The barbarians may have depleted our resources, but they can only invade one province at a time! And they will be too busy fighting themselves for the same territory. Eventually my levies will regenerate, and this time, instead of wasting our resources on minor battles, we'll combine them all into one huge blob, and beat the heck out of them. Even if they take one province, I have the WHOLE WESTERN ROMAN EMPIRE under my control. A Civil War would do more damage than these pathetic barbarians. If some of them succeed, I'll just use the Imperial Reconquest Casus Belli Excuse again, and grind all the way to the Rhine, since we were there for 5 years about 500 hundred years ago. And since my brother is in power in the East, I'll have to start a plot. If something happened to him, I would rule all of the Empire.

460: Germania and Persia are completely conquered by Rome. Honorius controls both halves of the Empire. The Huns are in retreat.

550: Rome holds all of Europe.

635: Rome invades China, using Holy Wars to subdue it.

800: Romans begin colonization of the 'New World'.

1400: Rome controls the whole world.

1500: Rome colonizes the moon.

2016: Rome terraforms Mars, and sends colony ships, Stellaris style. Begins fighting aliens.

Couldn't defeat the Gupta Empire, though? :p

That said, in reality, Honorius barely had control over his empire. The Magister Militum of Britain was independent in all but name by this time. Hispania had stagnated to the point that it couldn't defend itself. Magister Militums of Gaul and Aquitania were very uncooperative, African area of WRE were busy against Berber raids and didn't have much troops. And ERE under his brother Arcadius, as always, paid no attention to the west. By 406 Alaric and his Foederati-gone-rogue army was in Italy and he saw nothing to stop him for miles.

Then again, real history didn't operate by CK2 rules.

King Ferdinand: You're already back, Columbus. Did you find the new route to India?
Columbus: I didn't found it, my lord. There's a enormous wooden wall in the middle of the ocean, and it is blocking my path to India!
King: Hmm, a wooden wall. Steward, gather all lumberjacks you can find, we are going to breach this wall!

And after many years of hard work, they finally managed to find what lies beyond that wall. Not a route to India, but a vast grey emptiness...

July 1914

KuK Minister: My Emperor, your son Franz Ferdinand has been assassinated during his visit in Sarajevo. We suspect Serbian nationalists behind this.
Franz Jospeh: That's ... excellent! It's an perfect excuse to establish a new satellite in Serbia.
KuK Minister: What?
FJ: You know, a state that does exactly what we order it to do.
KuK Minister: So, new territory for our Empire?
FJ: No, that might totally upset everyone, even the Germans. You know, just a puppet?
KuK Minister: My liege, this is not possible?
FJ: Excuse me?
KuK Minister: You can only claim the Kingdom for yourself or push someone else's claim on the Kingdom. However, the relationship bonus for pushing the claim will only last until the ruler dies. Sadly nobody in your (extensive) dynasty has a strong claim on Serbia, so you won't even get the +5 relationship bonus for the same dynasty and the possibility of the two titles sooner or later falling under the same person. Furthermore, as the country is not in a regency or ruled by a woman you cannot push weak claims. Lastly, no claimant to the throne is willing to join your court.
FJ: ... damn. So we ... just go for good old conquest?
KuK Minister: Very well, do you have a casus belli?
FJ: Those damned Serbs just murdered my son and heir?
KuK Minister: You don't possess a claim on the Kingdom of Serbia?
FJ: No ...
KuK Minister: Then we sadly can not go to war. You could however start to fabricate a claim on their lands.
FJ: How long would that take?
KuK Minister: A few decades, most likely.
FJ: Ok, so we start now andd dear Charles will put those Serbs down to size.
KuK Minister: No no no, my liege, any claim you fabricate will expire the day you die. As you are pretty old already, using your chancellor this way would be highly wasteful. Just send him to improve some relations somewhere.
FJ: So you are telling my that I can NOT declare war on the country that just murdered my son and heir in order to push their claims on Bosnia?!
KuK Minister: Indeed, my lord.

--- two months later ---

FJ: HA! I managed to get all the claims I need within a month! Declare war!
KuK Minister: Our armies are already marching towars Belgrade.
FJ: Very well! How are the Germans and the Turks doing?
KuK Minister: Well, the Germans have refused to join or war, seeing us a "heretics" and also claiming to have higher opinion of Tsar Alexander than to you. The Turks just view us a vile heathens and have declared a Jihad for Hungary as we are now standing alone against the Russians. We are outnumbered 4-to-1.
FJ: *sigh*

Story: Just before the start of the Hundred Years War

Commander William: Lord Edward, your forces are ready to press your claim on France

Edward III: So soon? I thought we were having trouble raising the levies.

William: No, it was as quick as the push of a button. All of England stands at your command.

Edward: But the French won't give up so easily. It will take many battles to make them capitulate. But the French Navy will pose problems to our invasion.

William: Ships can fight each other? Last time I checked Navies only were for transporting troops, not combat. Who would fight on the waves, anyhow?

After the Battle of Poiters, six years later.

William: We have captured the French King John II.

Edward: Good. But his men will fight to get him back, no?

William: Nope! We already have had him sign a surrender document which ends the war right now. No more battles, we have their ruler.

Edward: But the capture of their ruler would only make them fight harder to free him!

William: Nope, that's the way the world works.

Edward: Wow. That was easy. And I thought this was going to be a long war. It seems like God is on my side. But my wife recently died, and now I need a new spouse. Could you find the best spouse, to make our house even stronger? She could be a peasant, for all I care.

A year later

William: Sire, I found this girl that seems to be gifted in everything. Her name is Jean. But she wants your promise to lead a crusade to Jerusalem.

Edward: Why not? Arrange the wedding. If it is so easy to take over all of France, it must be easy to take Jerusalem back. My house will conquer all of Europe!!!

I called this one A Game of European Thrones.
