I defently agree on a HOI3-map. It would be one of the best happenings ever!
I'd like to se a whole royalfamiliy. With options to increase the royal familiy( make a child) , make it possible to choose your fiance for the king (aristcratical choice and another royal familiy), marry off your princesess with another familiy to strengthen your familiys positions, many princes should make a civil war. If you don't put fresch blood in your familiy your kings/princes got lower skills.

Coalitions - If the leader in a war is far superior to smaller allied states they should have some control over the actions of said states armies/navies. For example; designating target provinces or sea-zones or just dictating over all strategy (besiege, hunt down revolters, retreat). Balanced with the inclusion of a mechanic which links relations with a state to the casualties inflicted upon their troops; so the higher the casualties the greater the decrease in relations.

The ability to loan nations troops - A diplomatic option that would give a nation control of some of your troops to use how they see fit while splitting the maintenance cost.

More nation specific missions and decisions - Always liked these, gives each nation a certain uniqueness and the universal missions (capture "x province", improve relations with "y nation") are a bit of a chore really.

Greater consequences for changing from monarchies to republics - So that "royalist" or "republican" would emerge, different decisions and events for each government type. E.g. Having a republican neighbour would increase republican tendencies in your own nation. Different flags for republics and and monarchies ( so republics would use a more modern flag as opposed to the heraldic banners most nations use).

Increased importance of province cultures - Essentially you would need to make and effort to bring minority cultures into the fold or keep them repressed, much as you do with minority religions. Plus cultures could be effected by artistic movements, the once the Romantic cultural era begins you see an increase in Patriot/Nationalist rebels. Culture should also effect missionary chances, so a Turkish nation would have a better chance of converting a Berber province (for example) than it would a Saxon one.

The dead horse to be flogged - A half way realistic representation of the British Isles. More provinces in Scotland and Ireland, the introduction of Scots Gaelic as a culture in the Western Isles, The Highlands and "Ayrshire" pre-Reformation and some sort of distinction needs to be made between the Home Counties and the North of England. P.S. Whose idea was it to give the Medieval Scottish army icon orange sashes? Might as well give the German army icon swastikas

(Y) Sounds good

More troop types and expanded timline 1000-1830 at least 1150-1820. Change the population system.

* Give and take peace treaties.

* Full zoom out map.

* ALL wasteland provinces colonizable (at a later date in the game or at a high land tech)

* Separate avatars for cavalry and artillery (ships have them so why not armys?)

* Luxury goods - spices, chinaware, sugar and ivory should give a larger boost to income and prestige. New goods – Nutmeg, diamonds.

* Completely re-designed province decision page.

* Support limit for ships in ports (Not ALL ports should be able to sustain docking large navies. IE - 6 ships or over)

* Continents re-designed - more provinces in Africa and Australia.

* Ships more expensive to maintain.

* Make colonizing harder with an emphasis on creating ‘stepping stones’ for expansion to distant lands. (reflecting the need for ships to re-supply at friendly ports) Therefore – more islands added.

* Islands added – Galapagos, Easter Island, South Georgia, Faroe Islands, Channel Islands, Cayman Islands, Ascension, Crozet, Cocos, Pitcairn, Cook islands etc

Would love to know your thoughts.

- Reworked colonialism. In EU3, there is no difference between the colonialist and imperialist era, the consequence of which is that huge colonial empires are made and consolidated way earlier than historically plausible.

- Completely customizable vassals and CLIENT STATES. You should be able to completely decide which regions vassal states that you either forcefully release or release yourself should have.

- Reworked alliances. The kind of permanent alliances that's in the game is not realistic for this time period (it is ridiculous that you get dragged into a war because your ally, Salzburg declares war on Austria). There should be alliances, or coalitions against specific countries (and I believe the current system of who the AI feels "threatened by" would be helpful in implementing this).

Neither of these ideas are especially ambitious. I wouldn't mind a new expansion, but with all the improvements being added in HoI3 and Vicky2, I'm sure Paradox would be able to outdo themselves in new and amazing ways with Europa Universalis 4!

Also, from the sounds of things, Vicky 2 will fulfill many of the ideas people have here. Keep that in mind. ;)

You mean we shouldn't want these ideas because they will already be in a Paradox game soon?
Or are you just stating that since Paradox will have those worked on for Victoria 2, it'll be a lot simpler for them to put them in EU3.4 / EU4?

If its the former, then I'd say that Victoria and EU are very different games indeed, and that wanting improvements on both of them is perfectly normal, as one can't satisfy his desires on a game with the other one.

If it's the latter, I quite don't see the point of "keeping this in mind", except maybe to tell us to go reach for other improvement ideas, since these won't feel exotic enough after Victoria 2's released?

it time of eu3, gilbriltar (south spain) was a major trading port. all ships coming from med, had to stop there for supplies to goto azores->bermuda->east coast amercia. therefore, trading ports like gilbriltar should get a bonus

I completely agree with this statement. Gibraltar was a extremely important port with the ability to dominate all ships coming in and out of the Med.

Also the Spanish Island of Menorca (Minorca) (currently included as part of the province of 'The Baleares' in the game) was an extremely important port at the time. It changed hands MANY times between the British the French and the Spanish due to its HUGE natural harbor. Controlling this port was extremely important for naval dominance in the Mediterranean. I would like to see this province divided into at least two separate islands of Menorca and Majorca.

This ties in nicely with my previous comment (see above) - I would like to see a support limit for ships in ports. Not ALL ports should be able to sustain docking large navies. IE - 6 ships or over.

I'm going to go with:

More detail and depth for the RotW. EUIII: Sioux and Samurai, if you will.

Overhaul the late game. Better and harder colonial revolutions, much more work done for end-game Napoleonics era stuff.

'Little' things like letting you change a countries flag via event.

Missions can help only if the AI will pursue them, & it is my experience that it often does not. Especially exploration missions. We absolutely need ways to push the AI to do sensible things -- if not tactically, at least strategically.

The trouble with alliances, IMO, is that they are leader-take-all. I would like to see some way that a country which has contributed a large part of the WS would get something for it. And yes, that means that I'd have to give something to my allies. At a minimum, you could have prestige sorted out proportionally to their contributions. Also $, which in EUII was split.

Several people have suggested multiple missions. I'd like to see that too. Ideally, I'd like to see war missions; the ability to assign missions to your allies, on the level of "blockade Gibraltar" or "besiege Madras". Success or failure would entail a change in ones importance in the alliance, possibly even to the point of leadership changing. And yes, I'd like to see the AI assign them too.

But again, with the AI so prone to ignore, this would fail. So, again to my #1 request: More programmable AI commands for modders.

I dare to venture that there may be enough demand for a fourth expansion.

And I agree with those that say more focus should be given to all regions outside of Europe. That alone would make a new expansion more than worth it.

*Huge improvement in China/Japan/Asia factions, more units for the Asian factions.
*A very Detailed map like HoI3's.
*More diplomacy/spy options, such as buying provinces.
*Family trees like in the Total War games.
*Minorities, I keep getting told they're prospering, but who are they, how many of them are there, etc.

Those are the only things I think should be in the next EUIII expansion, if there is one.

I agree on that! A don't forget about Cape and other important stations. National Ideas should unlock more different options and have a greater change on the nation as in some of the mods!

Changing the way provincial populations are handled so that it is more like in Total War would be nice. We do not need to go all the way to Victoria style POP's but giving provinces different percentages of the population having different cultures or religions would be great. Having Provinces be a 100% this or that should be abandoned.

How bout when the plague event hits it not only affects population, but also manpower, and plagues hitting a large area instead of one city also population should mean something.

I would like to see offensive use of missionaries on neighboring provinces. The placement and maintenance cost should be high and the success rate low. They can be gotten rid of by using one of your own missionaries there or by sending in the army to deal with the missionaries (Would increase the revolt risk for a religious rebellion for a few years). The placement would also give a CB against the hostile country (if discovered who sent them).

Countries which are narrow minded should be harder to convert. Vassals should be slightly easier. A country with the same religion as yours but heathen/heretic provinces should also be easier to convert. Capitals should be harder to convert.

I would also like the ability to try and mediate a peace between two waring countries. There should be a lot of variables which would determine success. Good relations with both countries would increase your influence, High diplomacy would also help. You might even have to make a contribution from your own account to fall in any shortfall. If the mediation fails it would hurt your prestige and could even drag you into the war along with any potential stability hits.

If you are successful there would be peace, improved relations and increased prestige.
