Hmmm, just coming off a gaming session and thought about this...

With respect to 1 & 2, the reason you need more trade depth and family tree depth is that there are long periods of the game where you are sitting there burning off the timer (and probably enjoying a glass of scotch).

If there were some more "building" functions, in terms of trade routes/items/agreements as well as family dynasty interaction it would fill these gaps of indolence. Really, this would help the game a lot I think.

you want some good ol' Alien Ninja-Pirate Monkies ! :)

As long as I get a "YAWR!" sound effect every 3 seconds when they are on screen, I'd be down with that.

More detail for Asia and Africa -- particularly for Asian religions, which don't have anywhere near the interesting events that Christianity gets.

Put in the province names (or at least abbreviations) at the higher "zoom out" levels

Ability to see from a unit icon what its size and strength is, without checking the tooltip

Ability to see what units an opponent is using

A better ledger page for province decisions -- make it kind of like the buildings page works

To borrow an idea from the Victoria 2 forum, allow players to usher in the reign of Cthulhu (where I'm sure there would be a place for alien ninja space monkeys -- who are zombies!)

I would really like Paradox to implement a more commercial mechanics

- rare trade goods. Nutmeg in only a few historical provinces in which control means total monopoly (ie portugal).

- currency decisions involving gold and silver giving great bonuses. However, this relies on you controlling silver or gold, or being friendly with a nearby nation who controls or trade in this commodity. Disruption of supply with give you negatives rather than positives if these currency decisions are enabled.

- ability to create a pax (insert country name) for an overland trade route from China to Europe like the silk road. This resembles Russia's creation of one in the 17th century.

- spread of new world crops. This spreads and may cause agricultural revolution after the discovery of the new world. This should increase population or increase tax base.

- trade routes by event, triggered modifier, or new mechanic. Peace should be maintained to keep certain trade routes. Maintainence or disintegration of trade routes will gives positives or negatives respectively.

More focus on areas outside of Europe. Especially east Asia. Develop it better, at least to flesh out things like the warring states period in Japan, etc.

The pop ups appearing stage left, lower corner instead of smack in the middle to the screen.

That's very easy to do yourself. It's in the interface folder, the files eu3dialog.gui and eventwindow.gui. Here is from the former:

Code:
	eu3dialogtype = {
		name = "DefaultPopup"
		backGround="Background"
		position = { x=-250 y=-280 }
		size = { x=500 y=280 }
		orientation="CENTER"
		moveable = 1
		dontRender = ""
		horizontalBorder= ""
		verticalBorder= ""
		fullScreen = no

And here is what I've changed it to:

Code:
	eu3dialogtype = {
		name = "DefaultPopup"
		backGround="Background"
		position = { x=50 y=-425 } 	#grles				#x=-250 y=-280 grles

		size = { x=500 y=280 }
		orientation="CENTER"
		moveable = 1
		dontRender = ""
		horizontalBorder= ""
		verticalBorder= ""
		fullScreen = no

This moves it to the upper right. Increasing the x value moves it to the right (negative values move it left). DECREASING Y moves it UP, positive values move it DOWN.

OMG ive got the most awesome idea that dosnt invole ninjas, pirates or monkeys of any kind!!!

has anyone played X3 Reunion (great game i reccomend)??
On X3 Reunion, there is a special little thing that makes the game in my top 5! It has #drumroll# a in-game script editor!! (yes you guessed it)

imagine the situation, you're playing eu3 as france, "holy cow its 1813 and havnt even invaded brittany yet, i dont want to end it now!". Ding goes the light bulb, click pause, a button in the top right corner, change end date 2001 and done.

It would not actully change the game, just the game you're playing (your save game) thus, if something goes horribly wrong you wont have all your save games destoryed :)

i hope my idea was enlightening and you could understand it :)

From my recent play, past experience, & from reading others' posts, I'd have to say that absolute #1 is:

Give use the ability to mod the AI. As it is, there's just too little we can do. Even Ad Infinitum, good as it is, can go only so far. We need to be able to make the AI wake up & acheive missions, to take into account obvious problems, and to stop doing suicidal things.

I think it's pretty clear that mods have made contributions to the advancement of EUIII (and EUII before that). Having a bunch of people working on ideas -- at no charge to P'dox -- could help a lot.

I read all that with a straight face, and when I got to toaster I burst into uncontrollable laughter for over a minute. Is something wrong with me? :confused: :rofl:

Honestly Id love another expansion and would gladly let Paradox pick the features themselves. All I really want is a Call to Arms button and more Diplomatic-related goodies and modability.

A graphics overhaul would be nice too :p But were kidding ourselves, Im pretty sure the last one was the last one :(

Two words: peace congresses!

I've mentioned this before, of course, and it's something that I think Paradox should implement - if they ever choose to make another expansion (which I can't imagine that they will) or a sequel to EUIII. From at least the beginning of the eighteenth century, I would like to see the large European powers holding congresses at the end of major wars to come to a group decision about the peace, especially those countries with large spheres of influence. In other words, even nations that do not take part in a particular war should be able to have some input on the peace deal at the end, as long as they are influential enough and the war serious enough. This would be a nice addition for historical accuracy, and it would also perhaps prevent one faction blobbing too much at the expense of others. Plus it would force the player to take international diplomacy seriously!
