If Multiplayer is not stable I will not buy this title

Paradox, take heed. If you release HOI4 with the same MP issues that have plagued all of your games recently then I can assure you I will not purchase this title no matter how interesting it may look. I also promise you I will not preorder or day one purchase this game, and wait instead on user feedback to see if you actually manage to make a stable multiplayer release for once.

I really hope you can hammer out your pervasive and never ending stability issues so that I can enjoy this game. I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel the same way.

Yeah, that's not an excuse or a valid argument. There are plenty of games that do not have the rampant issues that plague PDI games. Starcraft, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty, World of Tanks, Planetside 2, Total War, etc etc etc. Paradox has a failed track record on this count time after time again.

I get it, we all want the code to be good, but having a negative post may get responses that your not prepared for - as I posted in reply. In such cases where forums members have negative posts, it is better if they simply move on from the game.

You realize it wasn't perfect on launch for most of those either right? I also can't imagine multiplayer is their highest priority, even though that's how they test their games, since most people do not play multiplayer in Paradox games.
Also, all things considered Paradox has been stepping up their game in terms of multiplayer recently, hell I can tell from your forum icons that you must have played earlier Paradox games, surely you remember how bad it used to be?
Their games are not multiplayer games and while they have said they're fixing the reported issues with multiplayer in their recent games(actually, I haven't heard anything all that bad about EUIV since AoW. In fact, I've only heard that there's been improvements. :p) we mustn't expect it to be perfect since it's obviously not their top priority.

Err... Isn't the checksum the thing that makes sure all players are using the same version?

Without which, you're going to suffer all sorts of weirdness.

You didn't find a way around this check did you? 'cause if you did, that would be bad.

I assume this means you'd cheat.

Which is another thing the checksum is meant to prevent.

I was thinking more along the lines of map edits or other fundamental changes. This sort of thing would result in... "unusual" events. Probably simple CTDs but weird shit could happen.

What should happen is for there to be 2 copies of the most commonly edited .txt files with one set being encrypted and then on startup, you tell the game in the launcher which set you want to use. That way you can easily put the checksum back again. The game should also warn you upon starting multiplayer if your checksum isn't matching with the vanilla version and if you want to continue or reload the base encrypted files.

This isn't so much necessity but rather convenience.

And then somewhere inside the game, tell people where they can find these files so we don't get thousands of posts on these forums asking about these things.

I dont agree. In a way, telling the studio ´i require X to work, or i wont buy your game´ is sort of useful, isnt it? It may have happenend in a kind of rude manner here, but the request itself seems sensible when looking at the examples given.

Yeah... the "Paradox take heed" is a bit... well... OTT evil-supervillain style but he does have a point which, unless I'm mistaken, is that he has no intention of buying the game until it's getting good press in this forum.

Deadly ultimatum is, perhaps, a little much. When I read it I though "HA! Like PDS is going to loose sleep over one random threat not to buy the game".

But then I though well... yeah... wingzero890 DOES have a point & he (or she :blink: ) probably represents quite a significant number of people and PDS SHOULD pay attention.

Let's face it. If a large proportion of people wait until it gets good press... it may not sell well at all as more & more people are waiting & waiting then decide to buy something else instead.

Paradox, take heed. If you release HOI4 with the same MP issues that have plagued all of your games recently then I can assure you I will not purchase this title no matter how interesting it may look. I also promise you I will not preorder or day one purchase this game, and wait instead on user feedback to see if you actually manage to make a stable multiplayer release for once.

I really hope you can hammer out your pervasive and never ending stability issues so that I can enjoy this game. I'm sure there are plenty of others who feel the same way.
