If life were like Victoria 1.02...

The God-given Machine Parts would start running out about 1840, about five or ten years before man invented his own.

Nations, unable to comprehend how they have negative manpower, would have invested heavily in clerks to research the problem, but neglected their craftsmen.

A world-wide dark age would begin on January 1, 1836, as everyone realized that their up-til-now sound and healthy economies were no longer capable of supporting any form of education or crime control, without a massive increase in tariffs and taxes.

As the peoples of northern Germany freely chose to join the Conservative Empire, the world reacts violenty to this unprecedented Prussian aggression.

The Engineering Team Principle is discovered but ignored, as countries see no benefit from increasing work force sizes but mysteriously continue to do so.

Despite a world-wide shortage of small arms the unarmed, docile peasants of China raise division after division of crack irregulars to stave off British invasion.

The Chinese people of Bali, having experienced British rule for five years, will now raise their hordes against China itself when she comes to reclaim the province.

Alfred Nobel never invents dynamite, being unable to find sulfur in his time.

Napoleon III echoes Richard III's words with "A shirt, a shirt! My kingdom for a shirt!"

The world bows before Britain and its mastery of the textile and machine parts industries.

There are concerns that Britain's traditional navy is a little too traditional, insisting their Men O' War are fully capable of engaging in fleet maneuvers with and against Dreadnaughts, citing Nelson's words "Never mind maneuvers, straight at 'em!"

The free, prosperous people of Democratic France rush to America, to fight against the CSA in the 11th Civil War, but refuse to step foot on those shores when America is turned into New France.

Russia forgoes expanding East, West and South, in favor of annexing Africa.

Along with the unicorn, mermaid and gryphon, Italy has been put on the list of mythical creations by scientists and naturalists worldwide.

As Prussia decides to make an early attempt for her lebensraum, she finds Poland ideal by 1870, with few provinces having populations over 5000. Accusations of ethnic cleansing abound until someone looks to Providence and the four million Poles there.

The king of Denmark is accused of being a Jominian, having steadfastly stood by his Slesvig policies in the face of a quarter of a million Prussian troops.

if life were like victoria 1.04

We would have intrepid pioneers, with grants of 50 or 100 thousand pounds, preparing to discover the north and south poles or the source of Nile. After seeing that there is no place to accomodate their discoveries on the world map these pioneers would disappear from the Victorian radar, with their grants of money, and establish a haven for other pioneers on Uruguay (where did you think those immigrants were coming from).

After thousands of manhours and tens of millions of francs had been expended by the French in constructing the Suez Canal, the British Admiralty would discover to its great amusement that it was still quicker to sail to India, the Orient and the Antipodes via the Cape.

Despite there having been no great "War to end all wars", mysteriously there would be very few wars after the conclusion (in 1900) of the minor spat known as the Boer War.

Industialists would compete with each other to build ever better and more extensive mag-levs, whilst generally scoffing at the notion of building "factories".

The "Scramble for Africa" would degenerate into the "Series of Long, Pointless Colonial Wars for Africa".

The Crimean War would have seen Russia getting gangbanged by the French, British and Ottomans, with the British famously occupying Moscow and taking Georgia for peace and the Ottomans the rest of the Caucasus.

Ah yes, that too.

Also, the population of Uruguay would be about 500 million, mostly due to immigration because of the implemenetation of a social welfare program that never gets any funding whatsoever.

also there will be living some 200 million people in a single province in uruguay making remarkable use of the land there to make some 10.000 sheeps a day, talk about land utilization! Despite everyone in the world being feed up with wool they will still continue to make it and sell it to mysterious rich men giving them an enourmous industrial rating for simple RGO work.

If life were like Victoria; back in 1872 a certain type of automobile would go out of style, taking -1 automobiles away from... something that didn't exist in the first place. "Ahh, they are just a bunch of scrap metal now..."

Yes. in my current game, I got this message in 1872...

If life were like Victoria, I would be tolerating 54.9% taxes, able to by only a small percentage of everyday goods, and barely all the goods I need to sustain life. I would never go on vacation, I would work 7 days a week, barely getting by - and I would be totally content to live my life in this way until death.

If life were like Victoria, I would be a clergyman, for decades, minding my own business. Then suddenly, the government decides I'm going to be a capitalist. In the space of one month, I am converted into a laborer, the switched into a farmer, so I can harvest some grain for two weeks while the funds are raised for my capitalist education. Then, I'm suddenly educated to being a clerk, where I work in fabric factory for 1 week. Then, once the gov't has bought 10 pieces of luxury furniture, I'm converted into a capitalist, and now I'm managing some factories, getting rich. All because the gov't wanted better industrial efficiency. Where can I get such a scholarship, anyway...

If life were like Victoria, I'd be throwing a hissy fit, as I'm not going 100% of my luxury goods. How do they expect me to live without silky clothes, opium, and fancy furniture?!

If this was like victoria, the Chinese seas will be polluted because they'll be opium-infested :D

We will not be able to colonise the very top of Russia, because it will be classed as "Uninhabitable fantasy interior's"
