If DLC is going to have What If scenarios, how about Zheng He and his treasure ships?

Well maybe it was arrogant and ignorant, but at least thanks to this policy China didn't feel the need for colonize and reduce to slavery other lands and people as european did. So from this point of view it was quite a smart way of thinking imo.

Comparing the history of Europe and China from that point on, I wouldn't say it was the smart way of thinking. Decent perhaps, yes, but only because of outcome, not intent, and only based on our current values. It's very easy to declare moral superiority from the relative wealth offered by western society, and cry crocodile tears because of all the pain and suffering done by your forebearers and from which you now reap the benefits. But the fact of the matter is that curiosity, tenacity and enterprise are smart, and isolationist navel-gazing is stupid. This is a fact countries like Japan and China learned the hard way, and the west will too very soon, if we will keep our smug and self-righteous ideas about the economic colonialism by Asian economies in, for instance, Africa (or Greece).

Hmm, a siberian invasion DLC, to weaken the Northern russians and the Scandinavians. A DLC with Alien Invasion landing in the middle of the HRE. Any other DLCs missing? :D

The dreaded northern horde of eskimo warriors who ride polar bears and construct giant igloo palaces in Norway. The very cold follows the path of their invasion, and they march across oceans frozen solid before their new masters. Their devastating advance is only stopped when they reach the middle east, where they face the giant War-Golems crafted by the new Jewish Overlords of Egypt. Alas, the stalwart Golem defenders are fighting on two fronts, as the mighty nation of India has used the dark and terrible knowledge of the kama sutra to amalgamate into an almighty beast of a million backs, bent on assimilating all the world.

Them's not offensive stereotypes taken to bizarre extremes, mind, them's just fun imaginings of what might have been! :p

We didn't want to "learn it the hard way". If it wasn't for the Manchu we would probably still be a proud nation. The Ming emperors were starting to learn of the importance of the sea, and we actually had cannons and guns back in the late Ming period. After around a hundred years later though, when Europeans matched into China, Chinese actually had no idea what sinister evil the enemy were using as weapons. Well, of course there were lots of reasons why the Ming empire collapsed besides Manchu, and I could go on and on for hours, but this is a CK2 forum, and let's not start on some unrelated topic.

Wanna say that I'm not opposed to the idea of having a Chinese invasion kind of thing DLC, although it sounds totally unrealistic to me as a Chinese. It would be real cool for me to play a Chinese character in one of my favorite games, which don't supposed to have Chinese showed up. (if this kind of DLC ever happen, reckon someone would mod it so Chinese would be playable, rite? ;) )

I suggested something somewhat similar to this, but it got caught up in the anti-Aztec/'let's have a zombie DLC trololololol' craze. After pagans, republics and so on, a Chinese-themed DLC of some kind would make sense. China was the most advanced civilization in the world during this period and had explored the world quite extensively. An alternate history where the Chinese undergo a change of philosophy in which the rest of the world isn't just wasteland but land to be exploited is far more feasible - and in my personal opinion more interesting - than an Aztec invasion across the Atlantic, or Ireland becoming the European superpower, for that matter. There's many ways such a DLC could be handled, so it could work as a good showcase for creativity on Paradox's part.

Good point. Besides, there were many Chinese dynasties in the history which had different policies each other. In the most time frame of CK2 it was (South) Song and their foreign policy was quite defensive since they concentrated on the domestic development. I don't think they would have planed an troop for the expedition. If they were Tang, the situation would be different though.

Right, i forgot those, then we´d need the mighty Volcanos crawling out of the Vesuv, to counter the eskimo invasion. :D

I'd sincerely rather see a Zheng-He style chinese fleet invading the mideast than the Aztecs. More plausible, and China makes a better threat.

That said, a MesoAmerican total conversion mod would be neat, and probably work very well.
