As far as I know Norwegians and Danes were mostly Raiders, Swedes did much of the trading going as far south as Baghdad.
That is wrong, it is just that the organised raids on British Isles and France tend to draw all the attention from the mercantile ventures. Both Denmark and Norway had mercantile centers (Hedeby and Kaupang) where traders travelled to and from, and archaeological excavations reveals trade going on on a very large scale.
