All of you rushing to add more armor... it's like you want your mechwarriors to live forever or something! :)
Forget the mechwarriors... I want to protect my mechs' components!!!

I can guarantee armor is going to be cheaper to repair than anything else.

With the latest video I have seen I saw double heatsinks and other lostech confirmed so I think the bets are off until we get in the game. It is impossible to really debate it right now. That all being said I am going to be trying to run a 3 medium 1 heavy lance that I have come to like a lot. Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Vindicator and Grasshopper. The shadow hawk is modded to be a bit different with a more close in front line focus while the vindi and griffin sit back and busts caps at a distance. The grasshopper obviously lives upfront with the brawling hawk and together they tag team hulk hogan and macho man style

If hardpoints stay somewhat similar to the ones seen in MWO, there are some pretty nice options for the KGC-0000. I really don't like the original loadout, because it is useless after 5-8 salvos.

closest to the original: drop the LRM15, add 2nd LL and 3 tons of ammo for the AC20s.

I'd prefer to downgrade AC20s to AC10s, LL to 4 MLs, max armor and make it 2 tons of ammo for each weapon. (2 AC10s + 4 tons, 4 MLs, 1 LRM15 + 2tons)

The Beast: 2 AC5s + 4 tons of ammo, 4 MLs, 3 SRM6s + 4 tons of ammo, 19 HS, max armor (that's a stunning 370dmg per alphastrike)
or
The oversized, jump-capable Orion: 1 AC10 + 2 tons, 4 MLs, 1 SRM6 + 1 ton, 1 LRM15 + 2 tons, 17 HS, 4 JJs, max armor (might be a decent allrounder)
or
The Dakkapult: AC5+2tons, 4 MLs, 3 LRM15s+6tons, 17 HS, standard armor

And yes. I do like MLs over AC20s.

I really like the quad AC 2 Jager idea. Might throw a couple JJ’s on just so I can get into and out of cover positions.

JM6-A with 2x AC5, 2x SRM4s, and 2x MLs... 2t of AC5 ammo, 1t of SRM ammo, 3 JJs and 11t of armour. It runs hot once you start closing the distance, but at range you can keep the ACs chugging with nary a blip on the heat gauge. Alternatively swap out the SRM4s for LRM5s if you want a more long-range focus.

I've been chewing over the quad AC2 build for a while, and while the prospect of throwing all that dakka out at extreme range appeals, it's so situational - with AC5s, yeah, you take a range hit, but you achieve 90% of the damage output at 2/3s the weight, with the same heat burden. 8t of capacity is a lot to sacrifice for that last range band.

I agree, very situational. Not going to use it for extraction or speed missions, but if I’m defending a base (hopefully on a hill and with turret support), I will dakka them all day long. Plus, I had really good luck getting ammo explosions from my Jager AC shots in Beta.

Although I absolutely LOVED my modded Firestarter with 6 MGs in skirmish... I'm not going to bring one to a campaign mission unless I negotiated away salvage rights. Which, granted, I'll be a little more inclined to consider if I happen to have gotten a hold of a Firestarter chassis. (In case anyone reading isn't aware... MGs have a bonus crit multiplier and make 5 location rolls. Ammo explosions are practically guaranteed when you've got 6 MGs firing at an exposed location with ammo.)

Tons of fun, but doesn't leave much besides a crater.
