For what it's worth, here are a few ideas I think ought to be considered for upgrade/next version of Cities.

1. All roads come with a built in water main.
2. All zoneable roads come with built in underground electricity supply.
3. Some of the most popular mods should be included as part of the core game.
Automatic Bulldozer
Precision Engineering
Tree Brush
Prop Line tool
Asset/Prop search tool
Small clock
None of these should stop achievements.
And there are other mods worthy of consideration.
4. Something needs to be done to stop some menu item icons showing as white blocks.
5. The menu system needs to be modified to cope better when a large number of assets have been loaded.

Thanks for listening.

I don't think that 1 & 2 are necessary, though I know a lot of people seem interested in having it that way. I'd be happy if the "blue" electric radius was a little bigger though.

Agree 100% with number 3.

Number 4. Yeah, that is a pain. I haven't yet tried "Improved Asset Icons" mentioned by Steve B. First I have heard of it.

Number 5. Agree 100%. I am not sure what the best way to fix this is. Some thoughts:
- Keep all Workshop content seperate? Instead of it being mixed in with official content. Different tabs? I dunno. I'm not a UI designer. :)
- more categories (without going too crazy) (could be done while adding new official stuff like parking lots/garages and so on).

I know the game needs to remain accessible to the casual gamer, and not overwhelm them with too much. Maybe there could be an "advanced mode" or something that adds a lot of the extras?

I love that there are lots of mods available, but having some built in reduces "breakage" when new updates come out, and reduces conflicts. You know it will just work.

Hi,
Thank you all for the feedback! Some comments on the suggestions:

1. All roads come with a built in water main.

Do you mean the water pipes would be integrated with the roads? Interesting idea!

2. All zoneable roads come with built in underground electricity supply.

Nice idea also :)

3. Some of the most popular mods should be included as part of the core game.

We'll look into this. We don't implement mods as they are, but we can learn from them and make our own versions to the game.

4. Something needs to be done to stop some menu item icons showing as white blocks.

Would you have a screenshot and output log? Is it related to custom assets? I think our QA has not noticed this kind of issue.

5. The menu system needs to be modified to cope better when a large number of assets have been loaded.

We are looking into this one :) As some of you may have heard, we have now days a programmer who is focused in modding tools so I think you'll start seeing his work soon ;)

Thanks for the reply.
To expand.
1. Yes. When you lay a zonable road you get a water pipe laid underneath it. Laying water pipes is not my favourite part of the game.
2. Same as above when you lay the zonable road you get a power cable as well. This helps when building your city, but it really helps when something goes wrong. I have had a health crisis where lots of people are dying in one area and all of a sudden houses in the area get their power cut off because of the empty houses being bulldozed. It's a bit unrealistic. A few years ago my next door neighbour died and I did not lose power :D
4. The white blocks in the menu are from custom assets. I realise that this is not something you have full control over. Example, search the workshop for 'luggage cart prop' A nice little prop for an airport, but it does not appear in the menu properly.
I found this post from last year with several other people reporting the same problem.
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/custom-assets-showing-nothing-on-menu.843796/
I do not get it with every custom asset prop, but it is very common.

Thanks for a great game and keep up the good work. I have been playing city building games since the original Sim City and CS is the best one.

In the real world water lines, power, etc do not always follows roads. I use a mod when building because I too, hate laying water lines and power lines. It just takes too much time. I'd prefer if both power and water lines were simply eye candy if one wishes to use them but other than that I wouldn't waste valuable resources with either.

in this thread you say you want more realism whereas here you say you hate placing water pipes and power lines. interesting...

Not helpful, metacritical - only helpful, if your intention is to make him look unserious.

Functionality of the game and added meaningful features is the realism that he wanted. That looks like better zoning, parking space, maybe timetables for trains or whatever. Not just another brush to paint the map with. I read from what he stated, that he does not like painting grids like painting a roadmap, then painting a power line beneath, then painting water pipes at the same spot - this is redundant and offers not much gamewise, but is boring - also in my book. Why not being able to check, what services will be connected with the road so you only have to paint the road once and do not have to draw water/electric system after that at the same spots? Or streets with parking lots or no-parking zones? Just a viable solution that saves quality game time.

Snow painter tool in map editor. Like the sand painter!
This should be quite easy, I would think. I would like to see SNOW added to your terraforming tools in Maps so that we can add snow to the tops of our mountains. It bugs me to no end that all the mountain tops are just dirt or green and dirt, nearly all mountains have snow at the tops oft them so this would be a nice realistic addition to the game.
Also. I had posted before about adding better bridge choices to the game, You guys said this was on the to-do list...I really hope so! You can make so you can choose what kind of bridge will be built the way we choose tree-lined roads or perhaps do it the way Sim-City worked and you chose the bridge as you draw it across the water?

How about a three tier education system? Please I beg of you Colossus Order to consider a three tier education like of U.S. or Japan. I am still having a hard time coping with the fact that if I had a child in Europe they would spent the next 9 to 10 years in school.........

Please remove sound sickness from residential area; yes it can get noisy and what not. I have yet to heard any medical related T.V. shows treating sound trauma in the E.R. because the city is noisy.

yeah that sound sickness is just as absurd as plenty of other stuff in this game.

I would really appreciate to see a bigger variety on road types, especially ones with tram tracks.
Network Extension mod will resolved your lack of road varieties but beware; most behavioral mods such as this mod does not play nice with your RAM usages.

Just thought of something; For the airports and seaports, have the ability to dictate the size of vehicles that said port can operate. Not sure if that is feasible but I would most likely appreciate it.

I played it, and I love it. And most of it's expansions. It's great fun, but there is no challange, there is no real problems exect the transportaion of course. It's int its other areas that's it its lacking. To be the the perfect city building game it needs, some other layer of gamemechanic. It's all about building, never about managing your city. I would like to see some kind economics/trade & politics feature in the game. If it only where so easy to stomp out corruption and organized crime just by adding a police station, NGO:s never complains, and the city emplyees is always content with their salary, never any strikes.

I agree! I feel this is their next project (DLC) Coming in the end of Feb. So I have heard.
