Well, this is the Battletech game I have been waiting over 20 years for, perfect representation of the tabletop game, great era to start in. This has so much more possibilities, such as giving us the whole Inner Sphere map. Reminds me of Crescent Hawks Inception crossed with Mech Commander and a little of the first Mechwarrior game.
More stories please, just base a new mercenary campaign (from the start) in different areas of the Inner Sphere, with new mechs, such as a new campaign set five years later, using the tech readouts you could have several stories, or chapters, all beginning afresh in new area and year, again the tech readouts would be so valuable here. You could be following certain political events as they unravel, such as the fourth Sucession War, the amalgamation of House Davion and House Steiner. And yes, you could work your way up to and after the clan invasion, but you don't have to play it if you don't want to, there would be several single player campaigns set before the clans show up.
You could even introduce the clan by a story/chapter of their own, set in their space, vying for power and position before they decide to return to the Inner Sphere.
Hoping HBS does do something like this, you know they want to.
