Am I the only person that sees the province independence bug as game breaking?
Do you mean the noculture bug, for which there is a fix? Or do you mean the bug where provinces take freaking decades after being conquered by rebels to actually go independent--and even then, only if another country has a core on it? I've been trying to find a fix for the latter, but so far nothing :(

I hope the mercenary units can recover automatically like the citizen units, thus when i am short of manpower, i can use the mercenaries in a more convenient way.
That used to be the case, but then they became too convenient. Rich countries (cough, Seleucids) would be able to create entire armies out of mercs even when they were out of manpower. They can still do it now, but at least they don't regenerate...

Maybe if they were able to regenerate if they stood in a province that could produce them? That could work.

1. Populists need to be nerfed... greately.
2. The 2-rulers mechanic must be implented. After all, Rome had two consuls and Sparta had 2 Kings
3. Religion is currently boring. Must be spiced up, IMO
4. Barbarians should be able to dissapear from capital regions
5. "Form Greece" and other formable nations beside Gaul would be nice :D

More character options, maybe alittle more like CK. Make women matter. Like deciding who they marry. Make all the offices in Rome an election process. Have it run every 2 or or 3 years to keep playable. Preset trade routes in scenario's, you can change what you want after start. Doing them from scratch is a pain. More naval units, with differing abilitys and construction times. Less ping pong. ancient battles were often slaughters of one side or other.

ancient battles were often slaughters of one side or other.

Well... that depends on who fought eachother. Carthage and Rome usually tried to beat eachother to the dust and then kill those who fled. I dare say that those who excercised this tactic the most is Rome (Cynoscephalai or Pydna, check it up: Macedonians flee and the Romans just run behind and slaughter them) since they were more than eager to wipe out the enemy manpower whenever they could. The Hellenic kingdoms fought with a more "honor" of sorts (if there is any in war), and atleast during the Diadoch Wars they didn't slaughter eachother.
It's easy to make battles more bloody though: go to Rome/Common/Units, then adjust the values of each unit towards the other units to your liking. Might need alot of testing first since the battles might be too bloody, play with the values until you think it's good :)

Women, I'm afraid, didn't have all that much say in the ancient world. I mean, in Greece they were considered too disgusting to be seen naked (as opposed to men, who apparently strutted around naked and "wrestled" all the time). In other words, it would be an anachronism to assume that anything other than arranged marriages took place, especially at royal or administrative level.

TL;DR: Women did not have a say. (I know the whole "behind every powerful man..."-thing but still)

I think he meant that women should matter for men. As in, we should be able to decide who to marry the daughters to, as oppose to having them marrying more or less randomly.

But for that matter, we should be able to decide who the men would marry too.

Arranged Marriage System

I like the idea of having an arranged marriage system. It would add another
political aspect to the game, allow a new type of conviction (wishes to marry
Helena Matho), and make women matter in this game. I agree that they
shouldn't have too much influence in the game because that would be
historically inaccurate, but you have this Women tab on the Character
Screen that seems sort of pointless.

Certain women (with wealthy families, a high martial, prominent family, etc.)
could be more desirable for a certain match. You could also have events
based on it. For example, your nation is in civil war but the family of your
rival on the opposing side offers an arranged marriage to end the conflict, etc.

I just think that could add a new and interesting game mechanic.
