-I want Saguntum as nation
Don't forget that Saguntum only really enters the picture in 220-219BC, which is roughly when they started begging Rome for help (according to Plutarch--I sort of wonder about the validity of this claim). Bear in mind that there's a lot more about ths Saguntum situation: Saguntum lies well within what was determined to be the Carthaginian sphere of influence in Spain, as agreed to by the Romans after the First Punic War. Which makes Rome's declaration of war against Carthage illegal, in that they were the ones breaking the treaty.
I'd like to get feedback on these improvements.
1) When window POPS up for death, show a "F" in lower left hand corner.
Make the Font big. I can't always tell female from male by looking at the name. No need to show male gender, as we want to tell at a glance if we need to address the issue or close the box.
Even better, have the message display the character's portrait in much the same way as an event that affects that character, so you can see exactly who it is. Quite a few times I gloss over the name, since they all seem to blend together for me.
As an aside, most female names are pretty easy to see: their first name usually ends in -ia or -a, for Greeks and Romans. Not so sure about the Carthaginians, Egyptians, Persians and Tribes, though.
2) Have pop up windows appear in background. (Maybe offer user option in setup menu)
Nothing more frustrating than contemplating your decision or in the middle of reading....... another screen pops up. A lot of times you are ready to click on the choice and WAM a bunch of windows. I myself would rather have the windows appear in the back ground.
Let us make the choices first come first served.
Very strongly agree, this is why I often pause the game as soon as an event occurs. Maybe even a system like in HOI and EU3 where some messages can be displayed as a little icon that needs to be clicked before the message itself is shown? Just makes things a lot easier to manage, since events often seem to occur at the most inopportune moments (while contemplating the effects of other events, as you say; also while in the middle of selecting and moving armies. Very frustrating in tense wars.).
4) Navy locations. Make Port more opaque when not filled. When one or more navies are in the port, make it much darker or change color when filled.
I hate clicking on the military screen, click on ships and the scroll to find location of navies.
Indeed. One tip, though: on the very top right of the screen there is a "Show Lists" (or similar) button, right next to the date. Click it, and it will tell you important things like the size of your armies and navies (clicking them will take you to the province they're in), as well as the progress of sieges, recruitment and buildings. Very handy feature in both EUR and EU3.
5) Port Icon problem. Very hard to click on port. Has to be exactly on the tip of the arrow cursor.
Agreed. Sometimes it's easier to click and drag around the port, but if an army falls in that square then it selects the army in preference to the fleet.
I would like to have the establish trade route menu improved, it took some time for me to figure it out, with that starnge next/back button system. Not very friendly for beginners.
I agree that that menu is very difficult to understand, but if you're playing VV then it's much simpler just to click another country's province and look for the little green trade route icon, just as if you were setting up internal trade. It pays to turn on the trade map overlay while doing this: grey provinces have no trade routes available so don't bother, while blue provinces have trade routes available. With your provinces, a dark green means it has no trade routes, while a light green means that it does.
Whew, that post was much longer than intended...
