It is always easier to govern people when ruling class and the territory are of same culture. Currently playing tall and deving a lot I am running into government capacity problem at same rate as playing wide. Won't it be nice to make playing tall a bit more viable by making it longer to fill the capacity?

Accepted culture provinces having lower goverment capacity cost will be nice but same culture group not really, since that could be easly exploited in some regions for faster conquest (exploited more than it will be with accepted cultures since these are limited)

Thing is, your GC is mostly used by states. And, probably, your states are mostly/completely accepted culture (or, if you're not an empire, same culture group). Especially if you're playing tall.

So, the impact of this suggestion would basically be a blanket reduction in GC usage in states, which is much the same as a blanket reduction in GC usage.

GC can definitely be tough - especially if you are limited to duchy rank for some reason - but I think there are enough choices in the game already (eg. admin ideas, courthouse, expand administration) without just making the whole mechanic easier.

An interesting idea. But feels like it could be a bit too powerful given how easy culture converting can become. Maybe having it as an age ability or something could work though so it's only a limited time thing?

What's "expand administration"? Is it like a button in government reforms? Smth like, when you do all reforms it lets you dump the useless reform points into this feature?

It's exactly that, yes. It gives you +20 governing capacity each time you do it. It starts with a cost of 20 reform points with the cost increasing by 4 each time you do it.

You don't need to wait until you finish the reforms either.

Unless it's a reduction on primary culture only. Empires have a lot of accepted cultures, but those are not necessarily primary culture.

Would also be a buff to culture conversion. I like the suggestion.

I made a similar suggestion once: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...re-affecting-province-governing-cost.1512160/

My suggestion was to add it to the "religious culture" privilege, so with my version, it would be optional.

If it would increase the cost for non-accepted cultures it would hurt wide nations with a lot of TCs so it would actually be a buff to tall gameplay and not to everyone.

Also, it would make the reduction of government cost for TCs that merchant republics get relevant in the late game since TCs anyway become free with upgraded courthouses.

You can also just make fewer states which have full cores, accepting the decrease in yield until you are willing/able to spend the cap to decrease autonomy further. Half states, TC, and territory all have a place.

I think maybe you're responding to the wrong post?

I agree that there are many viable ways of managing GC. As a result, I think the original idea makes things a bit too easy.

Think I just misread slightly earlier, was pretty busy earlier today and didn't read carefully most likely.
