A large drawback to this complex and deep game is that new players get overwhelmed and then give up. A mechanic in Planetary Annihilation was for two players to have control of the same team to help reduce micro. We could use that idea in this game to both improve players micro and to help the new guys.

So lets say that you know the games systems really well and you want your friends to play with you but they dont want their own countries because they cant handle it yet. well let them play as your country at the same time and give them things that they can handle such as taking the southern front as germany when invading russia, as USA commanding the navy in the atlantic, you take care of the politics, tech tree, and production while delegating the other fronts to your friends. This opens up many options and when they get comfortable with the smaller systems they can move up to handling more until they can take care of themselves.

I'm really tired as im writing this but i hope it all makes sense. What do you guys think? How hard would it be to implement this?

This is a feature that was in past HOI games. Generallly in an online game of HOI3 you would have 2 players as SU and 2 as Germany. I doubt they are going to take this feature out

The game already seems simple enough, watching the streams. If that, plus all the pretty graphics dont make more new players coming, nothing will do, at least from a pure gamaplay point of view.

I think the whole point in HOI4 is to make things a lot smoother for new and infrequent players like myself. I tend to play games for a week or so then leave them and then come back, so simplicity to be able to get back into them immediately is important for me. And I often only play for an hour or two max a night. So I think HOI4 may be a godsend for me. I owned HOI2 and 3 for years and never played more than the scenarios until very recently whilst waiting for HOI4 I have delved into a Japanese campaign.

Compare to when I was single and used to play games for months on end and often 6 or 7 hours a night. In those days I had the time to get into complex games, often used to spend a whole night on one B17 or Tornado mission, not any more. What happened you may well ask? I got married and got some kids! Now I have no time for games!

That sounds exactly like me. I started in HoI3 and spent a ton of time playing but having a wife and a kid on the way cut down 35 hours a week gaming to about 4-8. It is a good thing really, but I still miss those days sometimes.
