Idea for a similar game in modern times

I've been thinking, I'd love for Paradox to make a game similar in style to HOI but set in modern times. Imagine this: a game that started in say 1975 and ended in 2015. The whole real-time system could stay the same with a similar combat system. You could re-live the cold war, manage your economy and dominate the world by sheer economic might. You could nuke the world to your heart's content and of course you could play any country in the world.

You could play a warmongering Iraq, a discontented Ireland, a peaceful Australia, a superpower US. You could research techs, build your armed forces and nukes, or just play the whole game without becoming involved in a major war. Loads of options! I'm just letting my fantasies run wild here and I'm interested to hear what others think of an imaginary game like the one I described.
Wouldn't it be fun?

Probably so, since there are tonnes of threads in OT telling about a game like this.

I would like a game like that from Paradox very much, but they'll probably make their licensed titles (Diplomacy etc.) first. For now, let's enjoy that HoI2 is coming.

We also have a Cold War mod (or two) in development and a Modern day mod, they shouldn't take *too* much longer.. I can't see how they can do But that's wishful thinking. Modders have done spectacular jobs so far so I have high expectations!
