I'd love a Galactic Trade Federation

Hi yall.

I was thinking how great would it be if there was a Galactic Trade Federation feature for Megacorps...


Just a concept: Megacorps would have access to propose a unique resolution in the galactic community, that would be somewhat related to the imperial trade charter.

This would be a way to try and take control of galactic trade and the galactic market by way of diplomatic power, and would bestow certain perks to the Megacorp that actually pulls it off.

Perhaps some passive bonuses, perhaps some way to influence prices temporarily, or taking a cut on galactic transactions but also have some duties, perhaps giving some of your naval capacity to increase trade protection throughout the galaxy... perhaps being given a pemanent special seat on the galactic council...

Something that is unique to Megacorps with galactic ambitions, but not quite the imperial or custodian options, as a Megacorp can choose to not go that much into "polticial power", and stay within the realm of "absolute commercial power".



I think it would be a cool addition to the Megacorp expansion and give it more synergy with the galactic community, and also give a unique playstyle goal for a society that is obsessed with commerce, and maybe not so much with being the political head of the galaxy.

Further thoughts:

If the Galactic Community decides to found a Galactic Trade Federation, this thing could make a separate "galactic community forum" for all Megacorps, and they would vote and vie for power within it.

As a separate layer of the galactic community, where all Megacorps are included and they get some number of resolutions that can influence the galactic market economy. This would be their battleground, and perhaps their voting power can be augmented by favours from "normal" empires in the galactic community. It would be a diplomatic battleground for the purposes of dominating galactic trade and benefit from everyone.

Their vote can be measured against commercial power, which in turn can be a representation of economy, or number of branch offices, or everything included...

This would add a cettain "internal politics" layer of sorts, and could be a testing ground for future developments with feudal empires, and other forms of decentralized governments.

Anyway, share your thoughts, I think this would be fun and interesting for the Megacorp playstyle

i want this, but with flavoured versions for different ethics/civics. i want a federation that's there to launch liberation wars and impose utopian abundance and fanatic egalitarianism, ai rights (and utopian abundance too), and xeno equality (also utopian abundance)
