This will simply be a short screenshot AAR, without much detail.

Setup is as follows:
IGC 2.3 standard setup, with the following modifications:
- Instead of Norway, Iceland is introduced as a major power.
- Iceland controls Iceland and has a cassus belli against the Norwegian provinces.
- Iceland is a vassal of Denmark and is an ally of Denmark.
- Iceland uses the monarch files of Vinland.
- Iceland starts with an army of 1000 cavalry and 4000 infantry.
- Iceland starts with a fleet of 3 transports.
- The population of the city in Iceland is increased to 1000.
- Danish COT in Skaane.

Settings: Normal/Very Hard, and playing by the Ironman rules.

I'd note that it took some 4-5 games before I hit on the right formula for playing Iceland; one of those ended quite badly (I let myself be surprised by the BB wars in 1520), in the others the momentum of my offensives simply petered out before 1515 due to a lack of money - not a problem, except that I wanted to prove world conquest possible with Iceland. The current attempt, however, can easily be taken on to world conquest, IMO.

The Lion has Landed!

Landfall. After building up for 4 years and taking a loan of 1000d, we declare war on the Hanseatic League, Pommerania, and Holstein, Portugal and England. Our troops immediately lands in Bremen, while our Danish Allies as usually do nothing.

Empire of the North 1504

After annexing the Hanseatic League in 1497 and going bankrupt in 1498 (with a monthly income under 1d, no way can I repay 1000d), we take on Hannover, Saxony and Bohemia; annexing Hannover and taking a province from Saxony. 12 years has seen our empire grow from 1 province to 6. Holstein has been diploannexed by Denmark.

Ny Icelandia 1527

The Danes are evidently not pleased with our changing to Protestants, 1514 sees a short, quick war with Denmark where we conquor Holstein, and end our vassalization to them.

An explorer joined the colour in 1510, and we immediately send him exploring to the west. By 1527, our colonies stretch across the American coastline.

Bellum Universalis 1532

The war still rages on in its fifth year. The rest of Saxony fell in 1528, which provided us with numerous cannons and additional men. A white peace bought Denmark, Sweden and Portugal of our back in the same year. Austria was forced to cede Pressburg and Ostmarch to our forces in 1529. Poland, England and Scotland were bought off with 8d in 1530. Bohemia was annexed 1532. In arms against us remain France (cannot reach us by land), Bavaria (miniscule), Pommerania, the Palatinate and Hungary.

That's it for the little slideshow. Don't plan on finishing this game, but I just wanted to show how it can be done. It will take a bit more patience than the game with Denmark; world conquest probably won't be assured until 1650-1660. Hope you enjoyed it.

Did you make all nations annexable?
Did you cheat?

I'd wager he didn't. This is no different than taking over the world as the Knights of St. John. You can often tell by the number of posts how good they are. If they post a lot, then that means they have info to share. It works in all cases except mine, for if it was totally true, I would have more posts than BiB. :D :D :D

I'm curious: what does your inf, cav and art. cost (basic prices land tech 1)

What are your difficulty settings, what do you mean by normal/very hard iron man settings :)

And last but not least, I think you were "wrong" to choose Iceland as your experiment. Having an Island as your capital province just about removes the chance of your enemies grabing your capital early:D

The same with the Knights, try playing 1-nation Lorraine in the IGC, chances are you will be annexed by France early:eek:

Standard Norwegian prices, which I think are the same as for Denmark.

Normal aggressiveness. Very hard difficulty. Iron man = no reloading except when one has had to quit the game.

Totally agree.

That's nothing; if you really want it hard, make yourself a small 1 province Shiite Muslim or Orthodox country (no morale bonus, slow tech advance, no conversion to the better religions), right smack between Turkey and Persia, and give both CB against you. Still wouldn't be impossible, though.

I will not believe it until I see it;)

Isn't there a Granada AAR floating around where he took over Spain or something?
