I would like more info about the effect of policies and districts

Some discussion has been held in this thread, but I wanted to seperate the points and post them in the appropiate place now.

Anyway, one person has been disagreeing with me there, you can see the discussion yourself, since it doesn't feel right to me to summarize his/her points when I don't really see/understand them, but I feel it wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention it.

The point I was trying to make over there is that I would like to see more information about what the policies and districts do.

With policies, it's hard to know in advance what the cost/benefit is going to be. I know the situation changes constantly, but it would be really nice to be able to see an estimate of what it is going to cost and what it is going to offer. In some cases it is hard to quantify I know, but at least some information is better than basically none now. Further I would like it if you can see somewhere, I'm not an UI expert so I don't know exactly where, you can see how much a policy is benefiting you now, both city wide and per district. Yes, the situation constantly changes, but everything does, and yet it can show it just fine.
If that somehow isn't possible (don't know why, since it needs to be calculated anyway), I would at the very least like it if the language is less vague. "Moderately raises tax income" doesn't mean much, at least give a percentage or estimation of a percentage or something, if only as an option if you are afraid it somehow makes everything seem to be too complicated.

Now, as for the district styles/specializations, perhaps I'm missing something there, but there is way too few information out there how those work. Take for example the forestry specialization, how much extra tax does it generate, and compared to what? To an equal zone of level 1 industry? Level 2? Level 3? Something else entirely? Modifiers such as these have no meaning unless you compare it with something. How much tax does a leisure distrcit generate compared to commercial and which level and density? Tourism?
The new specialization for offices is the same. Thankfully, it does actually give the percentages ingame, but the extra taxes are compared to what?

If some or perhaps even all things are somehow too complicated to show ingame, can we (I'm actually speaking mostly for myself now :) ) at least get an explanation somewhere? In a filler diary somewhere, or just a post somewhere? On the wiki?

I understand what you are saying, and it would be nice, but I think it would be very difficult for the devs to have a more precise/exact consequence. But yes, some additional information would be great.

As far as the policies go, what I do is save the game, then enact (turn on) the policy, and then see how much of an effect it has on weekly income.
It takes a while for the full policy to take effect, so you must play the game for a least 5-10 minutes or so, to get a good idea.
Then, if you don't like the results you observe, you can always reload your last save.

I am a bit hesitant to reply after the previous thread and I'm probably repeating myself (sorry): what you say is true, and I do try to do so, the problem I have with that is that the city continues to develop in the meantime, and there are natural fluctuations all the time so it can be hard to seperate what is caused by the policy itself and how much, and what is caused by other developments in your city. This gets more difficult when you activate a policy in just a single district, instead of city wide.

Not completely impossible, but much more trouble than it should be in my opinion, and never very accurate.
