"I would be fighting this war differently" (Germany AAR) ( Getting Revival )

Hello.

This is a Germany AAR which starts in 1936

This is going to be a half-historical, half -ahistorical type of AAR.
I got this idea after I saw some documentairies about world war 2.

When the british captures some officers and generals they were put on guard and everything which the germans said was taped.
Many times when they were talking about the war some of them said "I would be fighting the war differently if it was me in charge"

So that's my idea, I will put a different head of state/head of government and make an AAR out of that, "a what-if somebody else was in charge story"

I am not an advanced hoi3 player so please excuse me on that.
This is also my first AAR so I hope I will do it right, tips and hints are appreciated

First post will probably will be today but not in the coming hours since I am at work right now

Chapter 1 Proloque.

December 10th 1935

Just a normal day like any day, at least that was how it seemed to be.
A car with symbols of germany on it drove through Berliner-strasse ( berliner street)

Some people pointed to it and shouted. everybody started to scream when the car came near.
A boy turned around to see what all this was about but as soon as he wanted to turn around a big explosion and total silence took over.

People now still pointed to the car , but the only remains of it were wreckage, Soldiers came running from all directions shouting "The Fuhrer was in that car".


The news of the assassination of Adolph Hitler spread fast and came as a major blow to the German people.
On the 20th of December Hitler's funeral was held in Berlin in which he also would be buried.
Leaders from all the nations attended the funeral, Mussolini,Chamberlain,Stalin,Hirohito and Roosevelt.

Words were spoken of braveness and most notable were the words of heinrich himmler.

"We will find out who did this and we will destroy the nation he belongs to., But do not fear German people, even although
our country is in a grave situation now, a strong and mighty leader will rise and unite all people, We will become a great nation for our Fuhrer!".
After the speech of Heinrich Himmler he was awarded with a loud applause, even by Roosevelt and Chamberlain. Only 2 men did not pay their respect,
Stalin and Mussolini.

Out of fear for a civil war, Joseph Goebels and Hermann Goring decided they would organise
a fair vote for who will be the new fuhrer. The german people will decide.

It is now 1 January 1936 and all votes were count, Who will be the new fuhrer?
Goring

or Goebels?

And how will their decisions change the fate of Germany?.

Sounds like a good plan.

Strange Mussulini didnt pay his respects as he was an allie of hitler in the great war.
Goring should replace hitler , this would make a more interesting war.

I believe if that scenario had played out in real life, Göring has most likely won. Before the end of the war (when everything anyway fell to pieces), he was a very popular political figure - so much that he was in fact designated as Hitlers successor (as written on wikipedia).

I have no source on the following, but once saw in a documentary that he was in fact the most popular political leader in Hitlers Germany.

Himmler had already won a battle with Goring to take over the Police and Goring got the "booby prize" of switching to the Luftwaffen and mismanaged that one to terrible ends. As the head cheese, it wouldn't be long, in any case, before someone would cut Goring's wheel.

Yes but as Esben Sonne said, Goring in real life was a popular political figure with the german people which Heinrich Himmler is not so, (at least not as favored as goring by the people)

DanSez is also correct.. Himmler had won several fight for power over other political leaders in the party, so he could also just coup the lot of them.. Or just fake the vote, I suppose the Gestapo could come in handy for that

What is their head of state, attrribute? That is kinda important too

After all, it is your story, so I suggest you pick the one that is the most interesting story And possibly the one that would differ most from the historical outcome of the war

Yesterday I knew their attributes but forgot them, I can't check it right now since I am at work now

The Marshall Becomes the Fuhrer

The votes were counted and the winner was announced on 1 January.
The New Fuhrer will be Hermann Goring.

His first decion was to make Heinrich Himmler Head of Government, the second in command.

After this decision was made the Wehrmacht put up a march in honour for the new Fuhrer.

After the long March Goring held his speech and made some decisions clear.


Hitler's Death

Goring, who was second in command before Hitler got assasinated is going to do everything in his power to
find out who did it, and possibly will declare war to the nation he/she belongs to.


USA.

Goring, as all other leaders of europe fear a war is coming.
"We must make sure the united states will join our side" he proclaimed. "Or at least, keep them neutral".
Goring doesn't want to face an awakened lion.

Current Cabinet

Technology.

Goring first objective is to have a strong and powerful Infantry and Panzer forces.
Therefore they will be researched as fast as possible

Goring also is going to finance a Nuke Programme.
But he assured the people that it would only be used if germany might face a defeat.

Production


For production , there will be made 11 new Light armour Divisions.
Goring believes in quantity over quality in the tanks issue.
"What's your advantage if you face an unlimited force of tanks?" Goring Joked.

Part 3 January To July 1936


Goring, on 2nd of January, Announced his first strategies if there might would be a war.
"Keep in mind that these are still unfinished and that it can differ from the real strategy that will be used" Goring said.

The plan is to make western germany into a fortress, Guarding it with Light Tanks and A large group of infantry.
"I do not plan to attack neutral countries" Goring assured not only Germany, but also the world.

To strengthen the relations between Germany and USA, A trade was initiated.

On the 7th of January, Republican Spain declared war to Nationalist Spain.

Goring Decided not to interfere between their conflict.



On the 11th of January Goring Announced to begin Diplomatic Talks with USA

Further Trades were made to encourage Germany-USA relations.

On the 18th February we got the news of the annexation of ethiopia by Italy.

On 30th of March we got notice of illegal prints, Goring didn't react to it.
"Even the Fuhrer makes mistakes,the German people should know it, so I won't be looked upon as a god who makes
no mistakes" Goring said upon receiving the news.

April,May, and June were quiet moments for the reich.
On the 16th of July all New Panzer divisions were ready. Goring decided that they should be placed near
Austria. A country which began moving towards National Socialism.
"It seems to me, that the Austrians want to become a part of the reich soon, they move quickly in our favor" Goring said.

Spies of Germany noticed that the German-American Bund was becoming increasingly popular too.
They already are at 10 percent popularity.

On the 30th of July , the axis question was brought up in a interview with Goring.
"We heard that Italy might want to join In a possible Axis pact?" asked the interviewer.
Goring replied: "I have no intention in forming an alliance with the italians nor any other country,Just like spain,
what they do is their business, we will only react to it if we feel dangered by them, Also I don't want to offend them
but I don't think they could be a good ally since the italians are not well supplied, their economy is crumbling, ours is increasing"

In other good news. the british and the french did not see the newly created armoured divisions as a threat.

Investigation Hitler's Death.


The first of August brought more news on Hitler's death.
Goebbels, Head of the Security of the reich reported that 2 people were arrested who were suspected to know something about it.
One was an Italian while the other one was a Russian.
"Interrogation is going well" Goebbels said.
"They will break soon".
Mussolini visited Goring after he heard news about the arrested Italian.
Mussolini wanted Goebbels to hand over the italian so the Italian security could interrogate him theirselves.
Goring and Goebbels both refused and an angered Mussolini left back to Italy.

I suppose as soon as a war starts, it doesn't matter how many airforce you got in this game ( or in real life for that matter) you can't stop enemy aircraft from reaching your territory forever.
