I felt quite sad that the expeditionary forces can not be send in Victoria II. I wish that feature was in again, like in Victoria I. Do you have any hopes that this feature will be implemented again in future, maybe by an expansion? And how do you feel about the loss of this feature? Do you also miss it?

Also the lack of defensive pacts is quite a loss for the diplomatic aspect of the game.

According to OHGamer's list, there are event commands to create defensive pacts. I wonder if they do anything.

I liked how it added historical flavour to the game; sending several Expaditionary forces to aid an ally was a lot more realistic than sending in and controlling half your militrary in allied territory. Also, sometimes i like to have more direct control over my allies forces so I can better launch multi-directional attacks and fill in gaps in my line.

I definitely miss both options. Sending exp forces should give the other side a CB against you otherwise it would be open to easy exploitation.

For Example the UK sends huge exp forces to Nejd for use against the Ottomans, wiping them out and enabling Nejd to conquer Ottoman territory.

Well, I miss them very much as well. I used to like aiding a friendly (not per se allied) nation in their struggle against a common foe, you can send war subsidies in Victoria II. A nice addition as well, but in most cases sending soldiers is a more interventionist type of policy which can aid the nation in question tremendously. It always made the game that bit more special if I decided to send expeditionary forces into a conflict such as for example the American Civil War or a Great War, where I remained 'neutral', but did had a hidden agenda who I liked to see victorious.

I dont remember expeditionary forces doing much in the HOI series. The AI simply spams you with expeditioanry requests and its usually random infantry brigades that are under teched, and if you give them an expeditionary force they just get it killed...

I agree. It would be a really nice feature and I would intervene in other wars much more often. Not to mention, I don't even know how many times in history countries sent expeditionary forces while not officially declaring war. Of course, they should gain a CB on you, however. Currently, I normally don't bother intervening because of all the problems sending forces to do so.

I also like defensive pacts. I hope that in the future many more options are added to the game because currently the game can get a bit dull because there is not a lot to do. Although, when I say this, it doesn't mean I want more micromanagement. I want more options for more situations and less micromanagement.

With this in mind, it would also be nice to strategically redeploy troops as well. One of the worst parts about the game is when you have a large army and try to move them around the world.

Where is this list? And is it listing alot of beneath the hood features?
I feel this game has a lot under the hood, that most of us dont even know.
Yes, this game has a lot more under the hood than what we can currently see. I hope these features are added in the next patch. I know that features are normally only added in an expansion, but that would make me feel a bit cheated if they are already in the game and only need as to say "activation" and implementation into the interface and maybe AI.

Some other currently not-implemented diplomatic features that are in the mentioned as effects in the list are:
- non-aggression pacts
- guarantee independence

I do think however that paradox thinks that besides the expeditionary forces, which isn't implemented at all as far as I know of, most of these diplomatic option fall under the new SoI system. If you don't ally, you can still defend an attacked country within your SoI -> defensive pact/guarantee independence.

I dont remember expeditionary forces doing much in the HOI series. The AI simply spams you with expeditionary requests and its usually random infantry brigades that are under teched, and if you give them an expeditionary force they just get it killed...
In Victoria I it worked different from HoI, actually I cannot say that I was ever really spammed with expeditionary forces. Usually the AI only sent in expeditionaries if they moved an army into your territory and could miss them themselves. Henceforth you would need to pay for their upkeep as the recieving nation, which was also pretty nice for the sending nation. Expeditionaries gain experience (and losses too for course), while you do not need to pay them.

Diplomatic options to send expeditionary forces and sign defensive pact would be very usefull in both Victoria 2/3 and Europa Universalis. Sometimes I miss these options. Also option from HoI2 to take command ofer military forces of subject country was great.
