Not playing it to win. Giving the game little rpg elements makes the games much more interesting.

How so? Even still, the situations that occur don't vary all that much. I don't mean to be critical, but I just don't see how you could RP this game. Most of what I hear about this game is that it is their absolute favorite game, they've played it through tens of times and have logged 400+ hours, or something of the like. This may be a slight exaggeration, but I just don't see how the game could hold someone's interest that long.

Note: I mean no offense in my criticism. If people are enjoying this game, then great. It is clean, polished, and for what it is, it works excellently, so I'm not saying that it is a bad game.

Aye, HOI3 has been my least favorite PI grand strategy I've played so far (haven't given Vicky a shot yet, I'm only human). That said, I still enjoy it.

But CKII is the best. There's some parts of EUIII I love more, but at the end of the day CK is just win.

I thought HoI3 was pretty good actually.

HOI3 was released in an absolutely inexcusable state. It was bugged to the point that it was virtually impossible to play and made plenty of people (myself included) swear off Paradox games completely out of disgust...There was good design there, though, so I'm assuming it ended up being rather good once it was patched.

Paradox seems to have shed their reputation of releasing buggy games, however - I've heard little but good things in recent years and eventually picked up CK2. I'm rather glad I did.

Paradox Interactive consist now of two studios the original Paradox North in Stockholm and the newer Paradox South in Skövde. They opened it 10th of this month. Both are in Sweden so its not really that south. :p

Hopefully this means more great games for us all.

North and South Paradox. Well hopefully it wont become a paradox then. Ascaron had terrible problems with two studios and was a reason for them to go bust.
edit: Though i have to add , what was actually causing this was concentrating all money and powers on a single, very expensive game development, which Paradox obviously doesnt do for good reasons.

On the OP, yeah CK2 is great, especially after replaying CK1 i encountered some serious problems especially with stability.
I did miss some CK1 parts and complained (kinda), but now i simply succumb to CK2 ways/mechanics. :)

There's actually three parts even, Paradox North, Paradox South, and the main Dev studio : D
Also, yeah, we officially opened up the studio this month, but we've actually been hard at work since the 1st of May with some secret stuff.. for some popular Paradox games... make of that what you will ;) Glad to hear y'all are looking forward to more stuff from Paradox, anyways : D

Also, here's another press release of sorts on the opening of the studio-event:

This. Try to "play your ruler". If he is a zealot, attack heathens and infidels left and right. If he is a fortune builder, hoard money etc. If you raise (your) children yourself, choose the options that match your traits, instead of always going for the best option.

Skövde, reminds me of Köfte (arab bread with sausages and salad) or the word Töfte (meaning "great"; actually its of jewish origin, while i always took it to be nordic). So its yamyam and great.

All those girls around, man game designers are surely hot chick fodder...oh wait, they probably work there, err...sorry.
