I want to get in to HOI4, What do I need to know?

Hello Everyone!
I remember myself playing my first Paradox game, Darkest hour, 2 years ago. I don't really remember alot from then ^_^
I play EU4 now mostly (Sometimes CKII), And I want to get in to HOI4 since I always liked the WWII Setting , and the game looks really cool.

What are the basics that I need to know? What can you advise me about the game?

Edit: I'm pretty much a noob, so it would be cool if you would explain some basic mechanics too if you can.

The easiest way to learn the basics is to read the DDs, after that you can watch a few vids on YT.

The game will have a tutorial, that will tell you how the game works.

What Zaku said. I found with the previous HOI games it can help to know your history 1x1 a bit, although I don't think it is absolutely necessary.

I also found trial and error to be a good thing with Paradox Games, as you'll know from euIV and ck2. Think of something you want to achieve: Win the war as axis, or stop them with the allies. Maybe lead a minor nation to glory, or change history altogether. Then try doing that, and if you fail? Try again or just try something else.

Regardless of how well I know the game in advance or the previous titles, my first round in any new Pdox grand strategy game usually goes either down the drain, or totally not like I planned it too either way

You could always go and watch 1 or 2 episodes of their WW-Wednesday-streams? I mean you'd see the basics in action, right?

And the game was so long in the making that many things have changed since the first DDs.

Since the game will be very different from HOI3, I really do hope they make an updated comprehensive manual and an above average tutorial.
